Title: Black Moth Super Rainbow
Post by: Topcatyo on August 05, 2009, 11:30:50 PM
I recently got all the albums by this group, and they're amazing.  They're trippy, psychadelic electronica using primarily Rhodes piano, Vocoders, sweet bass, real (sounding) drums and occasionally very 8-bit sounds.
Their best album, in my opinion, is Dandelion Gum, which is just a fucking incredible album.  I'm loving the sound and have been listening to it all day.  I definitely recommend giving them a listen.

I've listened to them for like two years straight at this point, and I think I'm more partial towards their pre-BMSR era albums. Back when they where called satanstompingcaterpillars. If you haven't you should check it out.

Tobacco's album, "Fucked Up Friends" is a spiritual sequel to Dandelion Gum, and has a lot of hip-hop influences. I'm pretty partial toward it, and his other release, "The Allegheny White Fish Tapes". The "tapes" are filled with songs by a group Tobacco was in before satanstompingcaterpillars and is a pretty damned good release if I do say so myself. With the recent news Tobacco might take a break from BMSR for a while, and work on some solo stuff it may be a good idea to check out the suspected solo work he might be referring Maniac Meat (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?w5zz3tyttzj).

I love Street Trash. I could listen to the first 30 seconds of it for hours.

BMSR as a whole is a very interesting band to listen to, and Unreal I will definitely look into the pre-BMSR stuff

e: holy hell satanstompingcaterpillars is much harder to find then I thought..
