Many sources have shown this, but for the sake of conciseness I'll just post this one. (http://www.ihatethemedia.com/fox-news-o-reilly-hannity-beck-ratings)
How does this make you feel?
Stupidity is popular
I would trust Jon Stewart over Bill O'Reilly
Did O'Reilly ever publicly apologize for believing they would find WMDs in Iraq like he said he would?
Quote from: FloundermanClock;1654502Did O'Reilly ever publicly apologize for believing they would find WMDs in Iraq like he said he would?
uhhhhh pundit
So the obvious answer is everyone else is stupid? :wiebel:

I find it a little hard to believe that only 45% of the daily show's audience is liberal
I'm a conservative that watches the daily show. There has to be at least a sizable chunk.
Quote from: Franklin G. Hamilton;1654498any network that gives seth macfarlane 3 tv series should fucking burn to the ground
yesh
I actually think it's funny because it pisses off people who hate fox news. These people (some in this thread) are kidding themselves if don't acknowledge that CNN and MSNBC are just as if not more biased than FNC.

Sure, sure... Except I feel like a liberal bias is natural in educated people, particularly in television in general. That's not meant to sound assholish, more educated people tend to be/vote liberal.
fuck this gay earth
Conservatives need someone to tell them how to think. IE: Limbaugh, hannity, oreily, coulter, etc etc.
Liberals tend to think for themselves.
So no, im not surprised how popular fox is. Nor am I surprised at how unpopular MSNBC/cnn is in comparison.
You amuse me Nintendo. Do you watch MSNBC? They can be just as bad as O'Reilly, many times worse.
A lot of people on MSNBC piss me off. I like Olbermann, but he's so damned liberal it hurts. And he just goes off on these hot button issues in this inflammatory way, and it's not news.
I looove Rachel Maddow though. She delivers the news with unabashed bias thrown in, but her bias includes a sense of moderation between parties. Also, she throws in humor and is more entertaining than other news casters without trying to get people riled up.
Quote from: CadillacClock;1654550I would respectfully agree that all of these stations are awful. It's a shame competition in the news-media business is so fierce in America.
Yep. I try to watch/listen to a lot of difference sources of all biases, so I get more rounded.
Quote from: Dark F U;1654553Sure, sure... Except I feel like a liberal bias is natural in educated people, particularly in television in general. That's not meant to sound assholish, more educated people tend to be/vote liberal.
Correlation? Yes. Causation? ... maybe, but I wouldn't be sure.
But really that's kind of my point. The more educated and sometimes elitist people get pissed that the "dumb masses" watch so much Fox News.
I just sit back and lol.
Not to get too much away from the topic, but I would be careful with filing the educated elites' political views as necessarily correct when politics are far more nuanced than that. And, I would never call you assholish. :)

God, please. You cannot boil down complexes issues like this down to your simplified and flawed logic. I point to just as many liberal leaders. Also, many of the people who watch fox are not conservatives or the network could not be so highly ranked.
Quote from: Marlin Brando;1654562You amuse me Nintendo. Do you watch MSNBC? They can be just as bad as O'Reilly, many times worse.
When someone tends to think for them self they don't sit in front of their tvs all day and watch fear mongering propaganda. Thus MSNBC/CNN's abysmal ratings. They tend to play more towards the liberal viewer.
Ok this is just how I like to think of it, im not saying its 100% true...
I mean don't any of you realize how Fox has basically a monopoly on conservatives while CNN and MSNBC are fighting for their prospective market? It's no small wonder they're so dominant.
Quote from: The Big N;1654566Ok this is just how I like to think of it, im not saying its 100% true...
Lol, if you admit it, why even bother?
You might as well have said, "I know this isn't true, but I'll say it anyway."
Quote from: Franklin G. Hamilton;1654568yo nintendo how many liberals got caught up in obama fanaticism??
Yeah yeah, I know. It did get a little ridicules last year but its to be expected with such a bitter campaign. Especially when your country is going down the toilet.
Quote from: BlackberryClock;1654573Lol, if you admit it, why even bother?

It was kinda just an educated guess as too why CNN/msnbc have such terrible ratings and why fox is doing great. While MSNBC is basically the complete opposite of Fox it doesnt do nearly aswell...
It's easier to see when other people are being hypocritical and foolish. People tend to turn a blind eye to their own failings.
Quote from: Franklin G. Hamilton;1654577so you agree that sometimes there are liberals who get swept up in what they are told by the media????
only if you agree that conservatives get way more swept up in it then liberals do.
Your proof being Fox news as compared to MSNBC. Another good example would be Limbaughs audience which is close to 20 mil listeners everyday.
I tend to prefer talking to fiscal conservatives as opposed to social conservatives. Because it's like, no gay marriage, no abortion, buuugh. I just don't usually see legitimate reason behind their stance.
But fiscal conservatism is interesting, and even though I obviously side with the FDR way of doing things more often, I think sometimes it takes a conservative mindset depending on the situation.
Hell, Bill Clinton was a conservative democrat, and he kicked the economy's ass. In a good way.
Quote from: The Big N;1654583only if you agree that conservatives get way more swept up in it then liberals do.
How can you WITHHOLD agreeing? That doesn't make sense. Either you agree or your don't. There is no reason his agreeing to your statement would make his statement any more or less true.

Yeah, a guy with conservative economic policy and liberal rights is my political wet dream. Too bad Obama is about as conservative as... something that's not very conservative at all!

Ok you got me there.
Although I wasnt intentionally trying to classify all conservatives, mostly just the Fox News audience which, and i'm just guessing here, tend to be staunch conservatives.
So what about people who want to hear someone agree with them?
I'm starting to feel the love in this thread.

It makes me sad that in neither England or America, there is a single, unbiased, reputable, mainstream news provider. I mean not even a little unbiased. It's all far right or somtimes far left, there is no middle ground. Most satirical news things are the most trustworthy really.

Holy shit how can anyone take him seriously. I had to stop myself from giggling my parents awake when he started showing the full clips to prove he was taken out of context when, in fact, he just proved his point more. And wtf is up with his tone all that time. It seems like he's trying to be satirical or something.

Still depressing that people watch 24-Hour News Networks, especially Fox News.

The most unbiased news source I've ever seen is, very sadly, Channel One news, some shitty news station for teenagers they play in high schools all over America. They're lame and corny as hell (and try their hardest to appeal to the teenage demographic), but they give the most unbiased reports of news stories I've ever seen.
It's sad because they rely on stupid gimmicks and doing the stupidest stuff to be kid-friendly and try and be "hip" with the young people.

Comedy Central will rape our churches! :judge:
This topic feeds me... makes me stronger....More...
I DEMAND MORE!
On the note on O'Reilly, one of the worlds most disgusting people;
Here is him getting raped by Michel Moore

Marylin Manson being so politically correct that not even O'Reilly can shoot him down, never knew he was that great; Infact he turns the tables and owns the conservative core.

On the topic; Anyone who does not frown upon "News" casting that is biased no matter it's source is a sheep in greater or lesser degree.
Sadly almost all the worlds media is biased and controlled to some degree nowdays thanks to the downfall of media after the Vietnam war.

That's why instead of trusting anyone we should be taking facts from their reports and using reasoning to come up with our own thoughts about issues.
My uncle watches Fox and MSNBC purely for comedic value.

Pretty sure CCTV is the most popular newsnetwork.
This thread: Everyone is stupid except people who agree with me.
But overall more people are still watching the more liberal news channels.
I couldn't watch the Moore vs O'reily video. Although I hate O'Reily more, they're basic both the exact opposites of each other, yet exactly the same in how they irk me.
Quote from: Poltergeist;1655128But overall more people are still watching the more liberal news channels.
O'Reilly is has better ratings than MSNBC and CNN combined.
Quote from: Marlin Brando;1654634You don't understand anti-abortion?
I understand it, I just get tired of the argument. Very few people I know are really gung-ho about abortion (though I do actually know a few people). But if you've ever had a pregnancy scare with your girlfriend, you realize just how nice it is to have the option of not having your life ruined.
I just hate arguing with people about it because I think their arguments are kind of sophomoric. My friend Kim from high school, "Matt, what if
I was aborted." Well, then you wouldn't have just asked me that dumb fucking question. In a similar vein to gay marriage, as long as people aren't being forced to have their children aborted, then it really doesn't affect you, while it very much affects them.
Quote from: RomanClock;1655127This thread: Everyone is stupid except people who agree with me.
I see what you are doing here, you are trying to make me say that I don't agree with your statement and that you are stupid for making that statement because obviously people from differing political viewpoints have come together and agreed that 24-Hour news networks are stupid in general.
But then I would be proving your point right. You have apparently won the argument. Congratulations.
