It's just a non moving background with a black to transparanat gradient above it, on the bottom and then a non moving background on top of that which is the same colour as the background's background with a transparant background which does not overlap the black in the background's foreground.

I saw some of these for sale at a badass Seattle store called "Ye Olde Curiosity Shop".

If you ever go to seattle stop in there, it has real mummies and shrunken heads and stuff on display. And mounted jackalope heads for sale.
