Loved GTA4 (only GTA game that sucked me in enough to finish it), never got Lost & The Damned, so I'll pick this up when they smack both of them on to a disc most likely.

I liked Saint's Row II much more than GTA IV, sure it looked like GTA III but it had cops and "Ultimate Fight Ever" when super powered Pirates and Ninjas ran amock... cars and people flying everywhere.

And it had Soul, you actually loved your character whereas I could not stand the constant whining and inconsistency of the GTA IV hero which I can't even remember the name of.

But then again GTA III was boring compared to GTA San Andreas which I consider to be the best free roaming game todate so perhaps the flood of expansionpacks will turn to something beautifull day.

Up until now, nothing has made me regret owning a PlayStation 3 (with the exception of the Team Fortress 2 Sniper and Spy update) than this. :(

That shit was insane and makes me want to play the regular Grand Theft Auto IV again (I stopped playing after the mission That Special Someone).

Anyway, I like how Rockstar is taking a more light-hearted approach to telling the story of Liberty City in The Ballad of Gay Tony compared to The Lost and Damned with the cool dancing, upbeat music, and crazy colours.

The content itself looks pretty good too, like hanging on to subway trains (probably a one time feature like hanging on to trucks in GTA IV), the new FN P90 submachine gun, the DAO-12 Street Sweeper automatic shotgun, the reintroduction of the Sea Sparrow helicopter complete with machine guns (from Vice City), as well as accessability to nightclubs, the ability to have cars with NOS (customization?), different costumes, and finally parachutes! (I have never played San Andreas but ever since I got GTA IV I've wanted to parachute down from the heavens over Liberty City like an angel instead of falling out of the dismal sky like a suicidal stockbroker).

I hadn't even noticed that they are going to reintroduce that sparrow. Although it's not really a sea sparrow because it can't land on water : ( but yeah! This is looking great. I've got my hopes up

GTA 4 sucks, GTA Vice City and San Andreas were awesome. Saints Row 2 was awesome except for the last mission with the helicopter which made me hate the game so much I never played it again.

What are you talking about, that last mission was easy, just shoot those 4 thingies on the building and fly to the top. Done.

Alsooo i think GTA 4 has much better graphics, story and immersion but Saints Row 2 has better gameplay and customization. Lost & The Damned fixed allot of gameplay issues for GTA 4 though, let's hope Ballad of gay Tony fixes the few remaining ones.

Point taken, I had another look at the trailer and the helicopter doesn't have pontoons so it's definitely the regular Sparrow.

I've also read that Rockstar plans to reintroduce the C4 remote satchel explosive charges (awesome) as well as the Rhino tank.

n00b!  Also if you go into the police station and enter room 303 there are 3 audio tapes to listen (involving characters from SR1) after you listened to all of them enter the office in the back of the room, you'll find a number there, call it and you'll unlock a bonus mission!

Do you have the PC or 360 version? I have the PC version, but turns out buying the 360 version would have been a smarter move cause they get DLC :(

The same thing killed Dead Rising.
I don't think that Roman's missions were the nail in the coffin for GTA IV.

In fact, they were probably the redeeming part of the game (compared to the dull gloominess of Liberty City, not that it bothered me).

Also, I just got an email from Rockstar Propaganda and I saw the new trailer interviewing Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince. It wasn't that exciting compared to the last one, but it was still intriguing. With all of the dancing and nightclubs involved, I sure hope that there are (half-decent) dancing or bouncer minigames to play for some extra cash. The undergound fight club interests me as well, because in the trailer I saw Luis pull a new melee combo when attacking that fat dude.

In addition to that, the golf cart from Vice City is featured which possibly implies that the golf club melee weapon will also return and that the driving range in Alderney will actually be of use in a minigame.

EDIT: Is Saint's Row 2 really as good as people say that it is?

I've watched a few videos of Saint's Row and heard some swell comments about it, but then again the people who reviewed the Saint's Row series well also wrote scathing reviews Grand Theft Auto IV (which in my opinion is still the best game that I've ever played, ever).

The gameplay looks quite nice, although the deep character customization looks like it hurts the story more than it helps it.

In this catalogue for EB Games I got recently, they appear to have a hardcopy of the DLC for those without Xbox Live. It also says it is standalone.
So that could work out. I think it is only for Xbox though.

Yah that post was regarding Saints Row 2, i have Gta 4+lost and the Damned for 360. That's why i bought saints row 2 for pc. Thing is SR2 also has 3 dlc packs with new missions, weapons, cars etc.. xbl only.. zzzz..if they would bundle all 3 dlc's on a single dvdrom i would buy it fo sho.

mmm well they both had refrences to each other storylines, like the murder of one of their gang and even some mutual missions. Plus you could hear about Nico's antics on the radio. According to this trailer you wreak havoc with a attack helicopter.. you'd think something like that would make the news.

Quote from: RibsClock;1667997For the record I'm actually disappointed that they're not having you play gay tony. That would have taken some balls, having a genuinely homosexual main character, as opposed to just an effeminate asian fabuloso with gravity defying bullshit hair who puts on the agonizing guise of straightness like lame ass JRPGs.

Oh well.

actually in japan being a thin girly man means you're NOT gay and being a big muscley manly man mean's you ARE gay because girly men hang out with girls and manly men hang out with guys and get almost naked and greasy working out with each other and playfully slap each other on the butt after making a touchdown.

Quote from: GTA4.netA Spanish GTA fan site has obtained a copy of the latest issue of OXM Spain. It contains a multi-page preview of The Ballad of Gay Tony, with new details and 13 new screenshots.

Here are the main new details so far (we are awaiting a full translation):

Two new vehicles seen during the preview: SWAT tank and a Rolls Royce Phantom.
New weapons: AA-12 combat shotgun, satchel charges.
Among the new minigames are base jumping, club dancing, and club bodyguard (which involves ejecting troublemakers from the club).
The Bahama Mamas exterior has been modified slightly. The stairs leading to the entrance have been removed, and there's now a fence surrounding the entrance where the queue forms.
