Post by: Munglai on September 02, 2009, 07:13:49 PM
I'm stuck on all my fucking project things I'm supposed to be working on and I need to clear my brain out. Give me things to animate ok. And no shitty requests because I won't do them ha ha ha ha ha.

Oh christ I'll give it a go but I've never done anything octopus-like before.

Also requests like this rather than ones that are basically a little movie are more likely to be done. I'd love to animate a baby falling from space to the bottom of the sea but that's going to take a while!

That's the difference between you and I, Munglai. You ask for this shit. When I have to do it to finish my movie I want to stab my brain out.

I just spent an hour on seven keyframes.

I've evolved into some kind of stupid state where I feel worse when I'm not animating than when I am but animating is still really hard fuck I don't know. Basically I need to either animate or talk to people and there's no one around for me to talk to right now.

this isn't very good but give me a break I've never done an octopus before! I made it up as I went along and when I got to the second step I got stuck because most of his tentacles weren't visible. I'd definitely like to try it again soon though.

Animate a looping cycle of a funk band composed entirely of living garbage in a trash heap on the curb in front of some lucky guy's house.
Like, garbage bags and junk playing improvised intruments made from diverse but mundane pieces of garbage. Discarded items of furniture are allowed. I dunno, improvise. Be creative.

right now I'm seriously considering buying a £500 professional animation program because doing decent clean up in Flash is really really hard.

e:

I had actually read that as "£5000"! I suppose 500 isn't that bad.

500 isn't too bad really. I'd be getting it out of my student loan anyway har har ho.

Draw a short fight scene between any two of these characters.

Takes you back, huh? The first time I saw that I was pumped and began to look for the actual game, until I realised it's been several years and the project was most likely abandonned. I still think these cute lil' fellas have good potential for fun fights. I've even been pondering making an epic movie about them for a while.

thats a funny little program. it reminds me of a really early version of flash but only pixelbased instead of vector.

Pretty much yeah but it has some pretty powerful scanning/importing stuff in it too. It's not really designed for animating straight into it's more for cleaning up pencil animation. My plan at the moment for my third year film is to do rough animation in Flash and then bring it into this program or something else if I can find a cheaper alternative. I'm just sick of all my animation ending up all sloppy because I'm rubbish with Flash brush.

edit: Oh also I went to bed a while ago and now I'm up but now I'm working on some stuff I'm supposed to be working on. I'll come back to this thread when I start losing steam though. Thanks for requesting stuff. Just doing those two unfinished bits of animation helped to get my brain running again.

lotusclock gave me the perfect brush settings for flash once and I have been grateful for that ever since.

I made a quick little diagram in paint so you can see the settings

I hope that helps you a bit.

I pretty much do that already but it's still a really ugly and inflexible brush tool. It's all right for drawing but if you're doing proper animation zooming in is just really impractical.

there is also a program I was looking into not some time ago for animating. It's called TvPaint I think. It's like photoshop mixed with flash to an extend. You can actually make custom brushes in that program
