It's National Novel Writing Month, not National Novel Writing Month and a Week and a Half. If you go to the
NaNoWriMo web site, you'll see the Word Count updater isn't enabled until November 1. Their rules, not mine.
If you like, though, your goal can be 51,411 words rather than 50,000, but it kind of spoils the event when you don't start as soon as November starts, and end as soon as November ends.

I love it. November can't come soon enough. ;)
I made a plotline. 50 words.
Quote from: J. Thomas Rohner III;1684634I made a plotline. 50 words.
That doesn't count!
Anyway, zero words for me, but I'm going to be mocking Lovecraft in my narration style, so I think it will end up being very wordy and difficult to read through, with lots of boring technical descriptions of the physical structures of cosmic horrors with nigh-unpronounceable names.
I already have approximately 2k words of the sequel written from the first time I attempted it, and I'm probably going to keep it. I'm not counting that towards my overall word count, though.
I'm at 0 right not, but about 500 words are floating around in my head, just waiting to come out.

EDIT: Word count is now 2117, all a convoluted opening that needs a lot to be described.

You should integrate the whole essay into the story. ;)
I've got three essays due this week, tossing all of them in there would be great.
Anyway, 1149 so far. I'll reach that daily quota.

10;I'm getting to the part when the Space Harvesters actually take a step and stop talking.
I was on vacation for the weekend and came home late yesterday and only got to write 127 words. I'm going to keep writing this week and do a fuckload of writing this weekend to make up for the shitty first day.
1973
im falling behind :(
Um I'm at 150 but I have pretty high hopes still.
1187. How many should I be shooting for daily?
1667 a day should get you to 50 000 by the 30th
2,454 currently. I need to really amp it up.
6566. Now the story actually starts.
5,042. I introduced a new character that I wasn't expecting.
Also, Windup, you gotta let me read your book! Is there any way that I can?

As 3D Realms used to say, "It'll be done when it's done."
Plus i think i did a crappy job on it so far, but that's what the rest of the month is for!
Woo I'm at 1400 and finished with chapter one. Still pretty far behind but I think I can honestly finish this shit this time around.
I'm still at 1187, but I plan to get bunches done this weekend.
8554.
I'm still deciding whether the crew should fight a male or female Max.
Male = Female crewmember being hit on, asskicking ensues.
Female = Catfight! Catfight! Catfight!
EDIT: I'm going with a male thing. It'll be funnier.
8614!!
I'm at about 2000 right now, hopefully I'll get a lot done tonight.
10,341. IT'S MAX TIME!
im still around 2000 still as well, i need to hurry my ass up.
2851 and I'm only taking a short break for tonight.

Wooo 2556, the thing is I don't really feel like I'm failing so far. I've written some awesome prose as far as my normal stuff goes. I really feel like this is bringing me back into a solid writing phase, something that I haven't been in since late high school.
13,248, but i'll have to rewrite about 1,000 words since i've hit a block now.
I've been writing a novel for years that i pick up on when im bored. Im not going to let a little ol silly month convince me to write more, sorry :\

Yeah, but art should be fun. :p
I once participated in 3-Day Novel Contest, that was fun.
Hm... now do i have the main villain revealed now, with only 14,000 words, or should the evil person now be a stand alone character that is linked to the villain? Both are near reverse rape scenes.
Plus the pacing in this thing is awful. i'm considering splitting this thing into two parts.
EDIT: The marine sergeant is now drugged, and HE GONNA GET RAPED. Who will save him?
4,258 words so far.
Still establishing the new settings and relationships between characters from the previous book.

Quote from: exceeptPerry felt the ground rumble underneath him, and saw that the color was draining out of the grass and nearby buildings. The captain was running back to him, holding the amulet in his massive hand. Perry heard the whine of jet engines, and saw the Narjumper rise out from behind the barn, its shark nose rotating slowly to bring the cargo bay door around. The captain ran towards Perry and picked him up.
“Mr. Brenneke, we have to go. Now.†Before Perry could protest, the captain had already leapt into the Narjumper’s cargo bay. Perry turned around and saw Chuck standing out in the middle of the field, the color drained from the grass. The ground began to split apart.
“What’s going on? Where did all the color go? What’s happening? I’m scared!†The kid began to break down as his world literally fell apart. Perry swallowed. He had already cost them the mission, he sure as hell wasn’t going to let someone else drift away.
“Chuck!†he yelled. The kid snapped his head up and looked at the shuttle, his eyes getting wider. “Chuck, get over here, now!†Perry kept shouting.
Chuck had never seen a shuttle before. Of course, he also never had his world disintegrate before his eyes, so naturally he was to shocked to move. Perry swore.
“We have to pick him up.†He said.
“Mr. Brenneke, we don’t have any time left.†The Captain said, already buckled in.
“I botched the mission! I know that! And I sure as hell don’t want HIM,†he jabbed his finger at Chuck, “to pay for my mistakes! Captain, please!â€
The captain frowned, then turned his head to the cockpit. “Mr. Dante, full power aft.â€
The shuttle rocked as it skidded backwards towards Chuck. Perry reached down and hauled the kid up into the cargo bay, and strapped him into a seat next to the unconscious Lyria. Chuck was so shocked he barely gave one word of protest. Perry slammed himself into a seat and buckled his belt. “We’re secure!†he yelled.
“Mr. Dante! Get us out of here!†The captain said loudly towards the cockpit.
The story around them was falling apart at the seams. Buildings collapsed, the grand castle crumbled to dust, and the ground started cracking in places. The color had fully drained from the surroundings, leaving everything in black, white, and shades of grey. The Narjumper remained intact, and flared its engines as it fled the ruined narration. As the shuttle passed the horizon, they felt a great rumbling as the small, self-contained universe literally collapsed upon itself and fizzled out of existence.
The captain looked out the window where the story used to be and sighed. “Mr. Piper. Prepare for our arrival, and ready the infirmary.â€
“Is everyone all right, Skipper?†Cubby asked, his voice quiet.
“Not anymore.†The captain said. Perry closed his eyes and buried his face in his hands as the shuttle docked with the Lothigra. He had a sinking feeling that things were going to get a whole lot worse.

Maybe one of the characters has a chilling secret. Perhaps one of them was once a Mary Sue themselves, and all his teammates have to rethink what they believe about him?

The space marine captain just got overtaken by the Max influence (after touching a plot-warping amulet during a previous encounter), and is now rampaging on the ship. Two characters encounter him in engineering, and he already whacked one person, and their strongest gunner is protecting the bridge since her weapon is the only one that won't shoot through the computer consoles. one guy is trying to help their fallen comrade, while the other battles it out with the space marine and just got slammed into the wall.
Now the thing is, how do you describe the takedown of a 7 foot tall Space marine using a character's latent powers without it seeming too deus-ex-machina-ish?
EDIT: You know what, fuck it. Imma wing dis shit. TZOU-BAAN
6000 words or so.
Also good luck wind-up, nice to see at least a few of us are on the track to make it.
As for myself, I'm not going to blame being in school or being in athletics for my failure to keep up, I don't roll that way anymore. I'm just gonna admit I'm lazy and that I don't write as much as I used to though I can see huge improvements in my writing over the past two years or so. Quality over quantity I suppose. This book will get finished at some point, I've put a lot of time into thinking up the plot and I'm not backing down.

Just spent the last four hours typing like a beast, 40,041. :)
That's about 7000 words in four hours, I am master of words.
Still at about 6K, I'm not really disappointed. The plot started going in a different direction and my main character became more attached to a person than I foresaw he would. Stalled out a little but I'm definitely going to complete the thing eventually.
