I did a Search for it and I did not find any topic for it, perhaps I have yet again failed at the works of internet but that will show.
I saw it today and I was pleasantly suprised.
The main man was tragic to the point of beautiful, the dog was almost as lovable as a dog, the child was annoying but not featured to the point of irritation, the bird was meh.
Sure it has some cheap laughs but also some genuine humour that even a bitter sceptic like myself find amusing.
Anyone else seen it? I find it funny and sad that this years deepest movie is animated by Pixar.
As far as an animated movie goes, I'd say it is pretty close to what they can achieve.
9/10
(by "can" achieve I point to the fact that any more specialization made by a company would be a risk and thus will probably never happen: Why aim for a master piece drama that will echo through the ages when something stupid and generally appealing carries 0% risk and all the profit a.i. Transformers.
The Hollywood effect, adding cheap laughs or a love story to every movie)
What backwoods country you living in boy?
That movie came out last year.
(but yeah, it was good)

It came out like a week ago in Sweden.
They bought in the new Teenage Turtles movie before they bought in 300, 5 months after it had come out in the USA.
(Didn't download it because I wanted the full might of Sparta in my face.)
yeah it just came out in England too. haven't seen it yet
i saw it with some friends a while back, the theater was mainly filled with annoyed parents sitting with their nine-year olds. It was pretty good as a movie in general, kinda funny in a cute kind of way. i did enjoy it though.
I quite liked it, but I did prefer WALL•E. It just felt tighter and more ambitious.
I got it in 1080p sitting on my hard drive. Just waiting until I can be bothered to watch it/am high in the day time.
Definetly one of Pixar's best films.
It's pretty much the closest to a genuine non-kid movie that any big hollywood animation studio has got. The story dealt with real emotion and drama and the direction was really clean and smart. Along with Fantastic Mr Fox and Where the Wild Things Are this is shaping up to be a good year for not treating kids like idiots.
I still have to watch this as with many other films that came out this year, I haven´t been in a theater for a long time.

Revenge of the Fallen being the abominable exception.

That's not really a kid's movie, it was made for teenaged nerds that wanted to see Megan Fox running and see anything that has Optimus Prime on it somewhere.

'Tis a shame, wasn't a single kid when we saw it then again we saw it in English at 21:20.

God I hate that movie more than anything, it represents everything that is wrong in humanity.
Quote from: TequilaClock;1685980Revenge of the Fallen being the abominable exception.
That just treated everyone like idiots. I'm talking more about stuff that's usually advertised for kids because it's a cartoon or has big monster costumes. It's nice to see those kinds of films not being patronising. If you treat kids like idiots they'll grow up into idiots.
I really loved it. I was lucky enough to get into an advance screening a month before it came out here followed by a Q&A with Pete Docter (director) and Jonas Rivera (producer)
The villian was fantastic, such perfect madness. He's not essentially evil he's just driven mad by his obsession.
The subtle Star Wars references were nice too
How is Astro Boy by the way? Anyone seen it yet? I got my mixed expectations about it.

It's no Up, but it's not at all bad.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!

One of the worst parts in that movie was when the bureaucrat tells the exact location of everything and security details and everything else that the Deceptcons wanted to know.
Overall it was ok for an action movie though.
of ponyo i was not a fan.
Quote from: RomanClock;1686329Overall it was ok for an action movie though.
No it wasn't
I just finished watching it and holy fuck that is the best movie I have ever seen. It may be because I am slightly high but I have quite literally, never seen a better movie in my life.
I hate when people give movies 10/10s because they don't ever really deserve it and the person doesn't really think that it's a 10/10, they just like it a bunch. This movie is the only movie, I think, which deserves a 10/10.
I'm probably sounding like a big gay tampon right now but god damn that movie was fucking awesome. Maybe my tolerance is just low at the moment.
Saw it with my girlfriend and her nieces a while back (first movie I've seen in '3D' too), I thought it was brilliant. Quite sad though, but in a good way, if that makes much sense.

Yeah well the sad parts is what made the movie on my part, I wouldn't have enjoyed it very much otherwise.
When I saw the thread title I thought this thread was going about the 1976 Russ Meyer movie "Up!", because you put the exclamation mark inside the quote. Don't get me excited by misquoting the movie's name plz. The Pixar movie is called "Up" not "Up!".

I was completely wrong. I dunno why I thought it did but yeah, Up doesn't have an exlamation mark.
(You didnt find a thread for it because search doesn't look up 2 letter words. Theres def a thread for it possibly 2)
This was my favorite movie so far this year. I still need to see A Serious Man and Invictus and Avatar and The Lovely Bones and The Road and Precious though
