(I was actually looking for the triceratops which predates this green monstrosity. Remember the grey one? It was made of a single piece only it's mouth could move.)
I also have a few real life dinosaurs as classmates.

No they don't actually, only its tail moves. The legs were just a different shade (I have no idea why they did that but they also did it with the stegosaurus) I think it's more or less the same tail as the crocodiles had. But I'm not sure. Man those were the days!

jesus, this thread brings back memories
Being so closely related to birds, velociraptors were probably warm blooded. Discuss.

It's pretty agreed upon that dinosaurs had to be warm blooded.
Quote from: Marlin Brando;1693808It's pretty agreed upon that dinosaurs had to be warm blooded.
That's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to maintain thermostasis on a creature that large? Raptors I can understand, but something like a tyrannosaurus or brachiosaurus it would waste ridiculous amounts of energy.
Besides, how do you explain that alligators, and all lizards for that matter, are cold blooded? IT JUST DOESN'T ADD UP MARLIN CLOCK.
Dinosaurs are so different from other reptiles it's not funny.
Ever noticed that their progeny are warm blooded? Do you think that just happened once birds came onto the scene?
The world of the dinosaurs was a plentiful one, oxygen levels were at their highest than at any other time. Warm blooded creatures have the most efficient circulatory systems, I don't really see how dinosaurs did grow that large without a closed circulatory system.
It would have taken much longer to mature, true, but the food needed would have been ridiculous if they didn't have a cold blooded circulatory system. There's a reason mammals don't grow larger than elephants on land.
From wikipedia for Brachiosaurus (yeah I know, great source, always correct, ect ect)
QuoteAs a warm-blooded animal, the daily energy demands of Brachiosaurus would have been enormous; it would probably have needed to eat more than ~182 kg (400 lb) of food per day. If Brachiosaurus was fully cold-blooded or was a passive bulk endotherm, it would have needed far less food to meet its daily energy needs.
The Cretaceous wasn't just full of plants for the hungry dinosaur family. Grass didn't exist yet and flowering plants and figs are just starting. They pretty much had to rely on stripping trees.
I'm sure the Trex had his work cut out for him too. Modern day warm blooded predators just don't get any bigger than bears, and calling a bear a predator is a bit of a stretch. They had to conserve like a motherfucker to survive without touching plants.
BTW, i'm ignoring whales because they live in the water and that changes so many important variables they're not really applicable.

Wrong! The difference between reptiles and dinosaurs is hilarious. I even chortled when I thought about it.
