So apparently the order is this:

1: Killing Arabs, Russians and Brazilians
2: Vampire abstinence
3: The goddamn batman.

Let's talk about Blade instead. Blade is awesome and one of the few (if not only) comic books characters i enjoyed more on the big screen than in a comic. My favorite Blade is Blade 2. 3 was kinda shit.

We can go as a group. We'll be Blade, Buffy, Faith, Sam/Dean Winchester, Van Hellsing, Father Callahan and Solomon Kane

Alucard, Spike and Angel are going to be a bit dangerous. People might mistake us for faggy glowy vampires you see.

heres what snapple was talking about btw

Quote“When I read it, I was convinced Stephenie was convinced that she was Bella, and it was like a book that wasn’t supposed to be published. It was like reading her sexual fantasy, especially when she said it was based on a dream and it was like, ‘Oh I’ve had this dream about this really sexy guy,’ and she just writes this book about it. Like some things about Edward are so specific, I was just convinced, like, ‘This woman is mad. She’s completely mad and she’s in love with her own fictional creation.’ And sometimes you would feel uncomfortable reading this thing. It’s kind of a sick pleasure in a lot of ways.”
thats the star of the movie robert pattinson

Snake, he meant "recently", and he's right. Vampires srt of have a ten-year fad going on where they're popular for a while then fade out of popular culture for ten years.

Quote from: Ronnie James Dio Clock;1695059I still don't understand why people like this junk.

She makes the characters two-dimensional enough so that 13 year-old girls can superimpose themselves over them and live out their own fantasy without feeling like a recluse.

And there's those Darren Shan books that hit my school like a tidal wave. There's also Trinity Blood, the sadly sort-lived Van Helsing craze, Blood Rayne, Legacy of Kain, Dracula 2000, and the list goes on. Not to mention the annoyingly large amount of teenagers who seem to think they are vampires, even before Meyer wrote those God-awful books.

As much as Stephanie Meyer would like to think that she has brought back Vampires to modern culture, the fact remains that they never really left. All she did was poke the vein a little.

You just described literally everything

Also,
Why is everyone getting so wound up about this?! They're a few shitty films that are gonna be top of the charts for a little bit and then they'll fade out.
THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS
The fact that it's beating your favourite movie means nothing and in fact should be expected because the shit always rises. Music charts, movie charts, book sales, tv ratings. The crappiest of shit with the widest mass appeal will always be the most purchased. If your favourite films/music/books/tv shows are just the top sellers, you are a moron with boring taste. You all know this!
The Dark Knight was a rare occasion of the best also being the most popular.

Meyer argues that her vampires "sparkle" in the sun because they are "vegetarians". This might not be the reason, but I sure as hell don't want to actually look it up.

The vampire was originally a creature that went out at night and was sneaky because it could pose a threat to both the rich and the poor, and gave the elites something to fear as well. To my knowledge, vampires died in the sun because it was meant to be an exaggeration of the fact that corpses rot faster in the sun. Vampires stories predate Dracula you know!

my friend paul says dracula was the ultimate vampire story because it looked at the preceding folklore and examined what a creature that fit into those rough characteristics would have to actually be like (a real fucker, apparently) and its status as a fully realized and expounded upon fictionalized account of a mythogical/folkloric archetype is part of the reason why it's one of the very few horror stories to have entered the literary canon.

I've never read it, but that makes sense to me.

so anyway paul says that's why he feels that partly it's senseless to still be telling vampire stories in the 21st century, because at best they've only ever going to be applied to a "what if vampires crossed with x and symbolized y in setting z?" format, and they're never going to approach the literary heights bram stoker reached.

I'm writing a story right now for school, and I think I'm going to include vampires as minor characters. They definitely won't be the focus of the story. No, that will be my ghost ship of fascist orangutans.

Yes, but they weren't defined. Not really literature as such, (as Slurpee said) more folklore. Bram Stoker either made up or decided on most of the tropes that are now generally considered vampire canon. Dracula was totally able to go out during the day and in sunlight, but he only had his freaky ass super powers at night.

Plus I only said that because you said Meyer had no respect for literature by having her vampires around during the day, which is toss really. Vampire mythologies have never followed a strict set of rules. They'd be way more boring by now than they are if they did. Where vampires are most interesting is when a good writer takes certain rules and interprets them interestingly.

Meyer is not a good writer, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense to say she has no respect for literature just because her vampires can handle the sun, cuz... Dracula could.

A self-insert is like when Stephen King showed up in Song of Susanah.

Bella is what Dumb Cunt wishes she was.

Unless Bella's a stupid Mormon bitch without an ounce of literary competence that hocks anti-feminest abstinence porn and can't get over how wonderful she is or how much she wants to bone the 15 year old glitter boy in her head I don't know I haven't read the books.

And half of his books.
