Anyways, for Illustration 101 I need to do a portrait of Jack White, and I have drawn him but I know there are things wrong with it and I have no idea what to do to fix it.  This would aid me both in my grade and in future works of portraiture, so please, tell me what to fix.

Is there anything I can do to make it look more like Jack White?  I'm thinking I need to thin the face up a bit more.

Alright well i have to point out how sunken in his eyes appear, always slightly bagged, is there anyway you can add depth to his eyes? Also maybe a tiny bit of chin hair.

Adding the sunken eyes is hard to do with only black, the bags under his eyes in my portrait are my attempt at doing the sunken eyes.  I'll try and find a way to pull it off.

As for the chin hair, we're to make the portrait recognizable to the other students and Jack White only had facial hair on the cover of Get Behind Me Satan, all the others he was clean shaven, and people probably only recognize Jack White from those pictures.

His lips sort of jut out like his chin does in most of the pictures but you don't appear to have done anything to capture that. Also you totally need to give him bags under his eyes or something to represent that dark shit under his eyes

His mouth seems a bit too wide.

Here's him with his head thinned a tad, his lips less wide (good eye, Ankh), and a more successful attempt at bags under his eyes.  With his lips thinned, perhaps it now appears that the lips jut out more?

Did I perhaps thin his lips too much?

Looks pretty good to me, maybe you might want to lower his eyebrows a bit.

Eyebrows have been a pretty big problem for me.  Jack White's eyebrows are really low, but when I lower them he kind of has a mean look when, for this particular portrait I'm putting together, I want him to have a slightly surprised looking expression.

However, I've lowered his eyebrows a tad as you have suggested while making some adjustments that, hopefully, keep the sorta surprised look about him.

Oh, by the way, here is the latest version.  Just the eyebrows are lowered in this one.

On another note, I think I've been up too long.  For some reason I'm suddenly stricken with fear even though I'm not really scared of anything in particular nor am I actually paranoid about anything.  For some reason I just feel kinda terrified right now.

Terror is over and now I've figured out what to do for Bill Murray day.  Also, I still need to finish Jack White.

Is it already 5:30 AM?  Wowers.

I'm new to this whole portraiture thing, that's why I'm asking for your help.
This is some great advice, though, I appreciate you giving me some tips to rectify this whole not-looking-like-Jack-White situation.  Very constructive criticism.  Good work.  You've been a good help.

Though I think larger pupils would be well-advised.

I can say, though, that I have printed out the finished version of the picture (damn laser printers printed too dark) and it went over fairly well in Illustration class.  Thanks a bunch for all the help, guys!
