Title: Planet Hulk
Post by: Kaijuclock on January 31, 2010, 06:38:46 AM
Just watched it. They fucked it all up, cut alot of shit out (some important shit i might add) and added a bunch of shit that didnt matter. The animation was awesome (made by the same guy who did hulk vs.) however i dont think this can make up for the destruction of what WAS one of my favorite Hulk stories. The Segway to WW Hulk is completely gone, and some characters who should have died lived. If you are interested in the story i recommend you skip this release and just read the graphic novel.

Ah damn:( I was looking forward to this cause i really liked their previous animated movies and series (Hulk Vs, Dr Strange, Iron Man, Wolverine and the X-men). I'll probabbly end up watching it anyway, shame though, the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk series where awesome.

Pffff lameeeeee.  Also if you read Skaar and Son of Hulk (Hiro-Kala) you'd see that only Caiera's body died, due to her oldpower she lived on in Sakaar, she later completely died when Galactus devoured Sakaar.

Nope Skaar is part of mainstream marvel now, picking fights with Juggernaut, ares, wolverine, thing etc. pretty neat. Hiro Kala is more part of the whole space thing with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova and the Realm of Kings shit. Though im sure he'll come to earth eventually, his supporting cast mostly consists of survivors from Sakaar like Old Sam, Axeman Bone and his daughter.

World War Hulk is still a possibility though. His ship is still on Sakaar.

QuoteReception

Like the other Marvel Animated Features before it, Planet Hulk has received positive word of mouth. Marvel Animation Age, one of the first sites to review the movie, said "...the film’s story is so strong that it makes me want to rush out and read the original comics...The real selling point to the film for me rests on the fact that it tells a very strong story. It has an abundance of action and set pieces, yes, but manages to fit all that deftly into a really well put together story." Comic Book Movie.com also gave the film a positive review.

I believe the reviewers never read the comics.

Well the ending of Planet Hulk is Silver Surfer leaving and the Hulk staying to lead the planet with Caira.

At the start of World War Hulk Caira is pregnant (later turns out of twins), Miek is Hive King and in a weird relationship with No-Name. It's at this point that Hulk's ships explodes and kills half the planet including Caira. Which triggers World War Hulk.

So apart from switching Silver Surfer with Beta Ray Bill and the absence of No-name i thought the movie was fairly ok. Could have been allot better though and it's no where near the level of Hulk Vs.

It should have stayed the exact same. They shouldnt have license to fuck up there own story. Nuff said.

Also hulk vs rocked my fucking face off, i want to go watch it again now but im about to have to go to work.

Marvel Animation has Thor: Son of Asgard lined up for 2011. Which is a bit disappointing id rather see a Moon Knight or Iron Fist animated movie. Thor was already in Hulk Vs, Planet Hulk and the 2 Avengers movies, bit silly to put him in yet another movie. Also this fall the Thor animated series is supposed to launch.

I am really liking Marvel Animation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Animation) so far though.
