1st gen only.
I like them all but I like Squirtle best.
Yes Squirtle is a man's starter(even though I like the others too)
Charmander is always there for me when I need him.
Fuck yeah Squirtle!
He evolves into Blastoise!

Sorry Charmander lovers but Squirtle/Blastoise kicks the shit outta Charmander/Charizard
What was that? I couldn't hear you up here in the sky, flying on my Charizard.
My Blastoise can shoot you down. With water. How badass is that?
P badass, fair enough.

Asshole.
uhhhh Bulbasaur.
2nd gen ones are kinda cool too, maybe I'll make a thread for those sometime.
All the others suck. Except Swampert, he is the bomb.
I guess its Squirtle then.

I like Turtwig.
Bulbasaur needs more love. He is the bomb too
i gamesharked and started with mew
best choice i've ever made in my life
i used cloning glitch and started with all 3. pwned.
nobody wants to hear about how cool you are just pick a side
I'm pretty sure bulbasaur was the easiest to start with, squirtle was the middle, and charmander was the most difficult.
Bulbasaur always got owned in the first battle.
I always went with Charmander because he was a fire dragon and that's bad ass.
Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732214Bulbasaur always got owned in the first battle.
WRONG
Squirtle just gets more volume. He gets two offensive water attacks by level 12 when Charmander just gets ember at 9 and Bulbasaur doesn't get vine whipe, a 10pp attack, until lvl 13.
Ivysaur rocks because of Razorleaf, but you find Surf around the same time if you weren't overleveling too much.
squirtle is the best
you should level him to level 100 and not evolve ever
yes but at level 55 charizard gets fire spin which pwns n00b ass.
Fire Spin? Really?
Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732239Fire Spin? Really?
yeah, and at level 46 he gets flamethrower which in my opinion is better than fire spin and should be achieved after getting fire spin.
No I meant Fire Spin is quite useless.
Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732243No I meant Fire Spin is quite useless.
yeah, but it looks fancy as shit.
but it's useless.
Seriously just flamethrower its ass.
Tie between Bulbasaur and Charmander.
Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732243No I meant Fire Spin is quite useless.
Well, trapping Pokemon has its uses, but generally, yes, Fire Spin is a bad move.
Well yes, but it's rarely needed imo
Trapping pokemon was broken 1st gen.
Quote from: Marlix Wright;1732254Trapping pokemon was broken 1st gen.
It was so annoying, I hated it.
Quote from: DWARFINATOR;1732213I'm pretty sure bulbasaur was the easiest to start with, squirtle was the middle, and charmander was the most difficult.
I thought it was the other way around.
Quote from: FloundermanClock;1732295I thought it was the other way around.
Well, the first gym leader is Brock, and using Charmander against him is kind of hard.
Edit: Also the second was Misty, and Lieutenant Surge was the third. So for the first few Gym Leaders, Dwarf's right, Bulbasaur is the easiest to use.
Bulbasaur is my second choice because he's pretty cool.
I never really liked squirtle.
I only ever chose Squirtle and Charmander. I like Squirtle because it can learn Surf, which is handy because it's relatively rare for Pokémon to be able to learn it, and because it can learn both ice and ground attacks, which gives it a chance against both of its elemental weaknesses. Also, according to the Pokédex, Blastoise can punch through steel plates with its water cannons. How badass is that? It's basically a living tank.
Charmander gets more cool points, though, especially for its evolutions. Fire dragons are indeed awesome. Also, Charizard can learn both Dig and Fly, which I always liked. However, it's not hard to find Pokémon that can learn those moves, so it's not such a big deal.
Overall, I prefer Squirtle, if only because I always focused on my starter Pokémon rather than balancing out my party like I'm supposed to. Blastoise is good as a one-mon army.
I've always favored Squirtle. Charmander would be my second choice, but choosing him would remove Squirtle from the entire picture. :(
TOTODILE, WHAT FIRST GEN DONT HAVE TOTODILE? FUCK FIRST GEN.
You're a mod, you could edit the poll.
Edit: Lol
Actually, come to think of it, Squirtle has Charmander outclassed when it comes to cool factor, too.

You know who copied these shades? MOTHER. FUCKING. KAMINA.
I didn't edit the poll because i don't like tampering with results.
Squirtle had those shades before Kamina!
Squirtle was the best considering what gyms/trainers you were going to end up going against in the beginning of the game. If you picked Charmander when you got to Pewter, you just got it in the ass since fire couldn't do anything to rock unlike water (and grass). I've started out with each one though in separate files, Squirtle has just always been a favorite.

Technically bulbasaur was when it comes to gym leaders, since its best against rock and water and earth, and is resistant to electric, grass, poison, while it was weak against psychic and fire.
Comparably:
Squirtle best against rock, fire, and earth, resistant to water, weak against electric and grass, and neutral to poison and psychic
Charmander best against grass, resistant to fire, weak against rock, water, earth, neutral to electric, poison, and psychic.
Totodile was awesome though.
Totodile is lame too. Cyndaquil all the way.

WHAT YOU WANT
(User was banned for this post; Reason: Sorry my finger slipped)
I prefer some of the newer starters, like Totodile and Piplup. Penguins are adorable!
Basically, water will always rule, and the newer it gets, the crappier fire gets.
I mean seriously? Two I'm a edgy teen looking fire/fighting final evolutions in a row? Why Nintendo? I don't even like fighting pokemon.
I want there to be a Fire/Water type Pokemon. That would be crazy.
Quote from: Kombucha;1732449I want there to be a Fire/Water type Pokemon. That would be crazy.
It wouldn't be too hared to incorporate. Just make it a steam themed pokemon. I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
I was thinking of something that looked kind of like an Octillery, with a thing on it's head that looked like a volcano and had black smoke coming out of it like a black smoker hydrothermal vent. And maybe it could have a signature move that is a water type attack, but it has a chance of burning the opponent.

Maybe balance issues prevent this?

Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732471Fire/water still is weak to lightning electric and rock.
And Ground.
Quote from: Kombucha;1732485And Ground.
No, ground would be neutral.
Fire is weak to Ground, Water is neutral to Ground, therefore a Fire/Water type Pokemon would take double damage from a Ground type attack.
Water isn't neutral to ground. It's strong against it.
Water attacks are super effective against Ground type Pokemon, but Water types don't resist Ground type moves.

4th gen Legendary, supposed to be the creator of the Sinnoh region. Looks like this:

Ugly, right?
So is it powerful or what?
Quote from: MYSTERY FIRST COME HERO;1732636So is it powerful or what?
Yes, technically it's
the most powerful Pokemon. It has the highest base stat total of any Pokemon, with 720, 120 in each stat.
