QuotePulling off a wish like this one required a big story, and a lot of heart. And so, with a note of panic in his voice, Spider-Man explained the dilemma: "Dr. Dark" and "Blackout Boy" had imprisoned the Seattle Sounders in a locker room at Qwest Field. Only Electron Boy could free them.

In the marvel universe its probably possible to get superpowers through liver cancer as well.
Holy cancerous retard Batman!

Deadpool got his powers BECAUSE he has cancer. That's close enough.
Pretty bitchin'. Seems... really hard to pull off.

Don't be hatin'. You're just jealous you didn't get to be a superhero for a day.
Little does Electron Boy know, he is the son of Electro, supervillain enemy of Spider-Man!
I want a wish like that :c

All we have to do is wait until 2080 for the ultra-gritty graphic novel of Electron Boy.

I would do it too if it didn't mean I could get killed in the first hour.

Although I usually check the news online everyday, I never can seem to catch stories like theses. Its sweet, but, I just can't help but think whats going through the kids head the entire time.
adorable (:
haha, this is pretty awesome. it's a shame he's going to die though, that's the sad truth behind all of these cool things nowadays.

My life will not be complete till I read this.
Didn't christopher reeve's wife have cancer? Coincidence- I think not!

Given that his super powers consisted entirely of him opening locked doors in order to rescue people; make the the reward they gave him being 'the key to the city' seem somewhat pointless ?

QuoteLast year, we ran a story about Erik Martin, of Bellevue, a young boy with cancer who was literally transformed into his self-created superhero persona Electron Boy by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Washington which created a day for him to save people in distreess in full Electron Boy costume, and to defeat his nemesis Dr Dark and his sidekick Blackout Boy.
As a result, he even received a custom made copy of an Electron Boy comic book to top it off.
The sad news is that Erik passed away this morning in Seattleââ,¬â,,¢s Childrenââ,¬â,,¢s Hospital. Eric had a short life. But thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation, he spent one day of it as a real life superheroââ,¬Â¦ heââ,¬â,,¢s certainly been an inspiration to many.
RIP :(

Rip, little guy :(
They messed up the spelling of his name :( RIP Electron Boy.
With great cancer comes great responsibilities.
Well, at least he had one pretty awesome day.
You know you're getting older when stuff like this actually makes you feel something profound. When I was a kid I was just like, "PSSSH CANCER'S GAY!"
I read an article a while ago about a 10 year old girl who was waiting to see Pixar's Up before she died, and so Pixar came to her house with a DVD of it because she was too sick to see it in the theater, and she died later that night. I was devastated by it. It's like, man Pixar you are doing Jesus' work.
As soon as I saw that the initial post was from like a year ago, I knew that somebody found out that he'd passed away. :(
Poor kid. RIP. :(
Even I still play super hero sometimes...
I actually cried :(
Yeah, this choked me up. Heaven awaits your heart, Electron Boy.
Captain America came back, and so did superman. He's just biding his time before the world needs to be saved again.
Poor kid... :(
