Let me know what you think. (http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/topcatyo/review-the-silver-lining-episode-1-what-is-decreed-must-be-179717.phtml)
I did some drawings for it, let me know your opinions on them, too.
Be honest, I can take it.
Read the first paragraph. Intriguing.
Full thoughts coming soon!
EDIT: And now, full thoughts: It's well written, all opinions are backed up reasonably well, it's occasionally funny and the images are amusing in their own right. Good show. :)
A good read, though I'd prefer some more pretty pictures because words are haaaaaaaard.
I haven't played this but I did play a bit of a couple of the old King's Quest games when I was a kid and this really just sounds like a throwback to them. The flaws you are talking about are equivalent to saying that Mario should really just stop jumping down pipes. King's Quest is a mostly actionless game in which you watch a king walk like a robot and interact with meaningless things for hours.
Avast keeps telling me you tried to put a virus on the page lol
Norton keeps claiming Destructoid is riddled with viruses too.

It doesn't sound like King's Quest is really all that good to begin with, then, unless the writing is amazing or something.
Most old games weren't that good. They were the best we had, though.

As I said by the end, I'd be able to look past all the other criticisms since, really, they're alll cosmetic and don't affect the gameplay at all (except for maybe the shitty camera angles).
However, the game is so short and there's so little to do (at least in this episode) that there's really nothing to it at all. Here is my walkthrough of Episode 1:
QuoteGo to the bedroom (it's on the other side of the hallway). Change into adventuring clothes. Open chest, get bag. Go to porch, get coin. Walk all the way to the captain. Give him the coin and then the bag of money. Congratulations.
King's Quest is sort of a graphical adaption of a text adventure, so its challenge is that it's hard to figure out what the fuck you are supposed to do. If they made things more obvious, yeah, it wouldn't last very long at all.

I read that you're supposed to be in certain areas of the game at certain times, only they don't tell you and if you aren't in that place at that time you have to start everything over.
Sounds fun.

Have you ever played The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? If you miss a single item in the game or fail to make it to the hidden level it is not possible to beat.

I may as well link to this. Also yes.
Yep. It defines an entire genre of early games.
Lost forever is way more frustrating.

They have had a bunch of weird plagues around. They are working on that.
