Title: We need YOU, so we can bring back TIEM.
Post by: DWARFINATORclock on August 26, 2010, 04:03:56 PM
As you may have noticed we are bringing back TIEM.

Articles will be posted on the frontpage, and you can also go there by clicking the TIEM button in your upper left corner. TIEM will no longer be in magazine format but in a blog format. This will allow articles to be posted regularly (hopefully even daily) so we won't have to wait months for a new edition anymore.

We do need some content though, and we are looking for people who would be willing and able to provide this content on a regular basis. If you feel like you have something to contribute post in this thread and tell us what you can bring to the table.

TO CLARIFY:
You will post what kind of articles you intend to write. Be specific.
No, you do not post the articles in this thread. This thread is just for posting your application to become a TIEM writer.

Send a PM to me (http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/private.php?do=newpm&u=271) and Clam (http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/private.php?do=newpm&u=186)[/U][/B] with a (sample) article you have written and the staff will see if you are the right clock for the job.

Wait wait wait, so we are removing the magazine format? I need extra persuasion to see how this will be like before. Entertainment-wise.

All right, all right. I'll see how it develops. Count me in, I guess.

Does the magazine format really add that much extra value to it? The magazine format really is not effective, the blog format allows users to post their articles when they are ready. The magazine relied on a select number of articles being sent to the editor who would then combine them and publish it, or in most occasions would completely forget about it/get lazy resulting in TIEM never being published.

EDIT: basically what Clam said.

What specifically is it then that you would like to contribute?

I offered my services for Rabid's (or somebody's) attempt to revive TIEM.  Hell, I even wrote an article on ThDrk that I sent in and never got word back about.

The articles do not go in this thread.

Also, they're looking for something more specific than "articles" when they ask what you can contribute.

Applying for article-writer: Humor articles, history lessons (within my realm of knowledge), current Clockcrew affairs pieces, informative articles.

Applying for graphic design: Illustrations, layouts, color choices

I recall the old Tiem having comics. Would this new Tiem have comics?

If we have people capable of making great comics then yes.

Hey sorry I'm never here anymore but I read this and had to comment.

Just after I joined, I checked out the old TIEMs and PMd Clam with an offer to pick up on them again. Flash has been a bitch to pick up again and InDesign is something I'm prominent at. InDesign has that fancy export feature that will give the page-turning effect without a second of coding and it's actually used to make magazines with (I'm not sure now if the old ones were actually made in Flash or InDesign).

Anyhow this is me volunteering to do a little typographic work on the articles and perhaps illustrate some of them to be exported as a flippable magazine, like the old ones.

I'll check back on this thread in a couple of days BYE

You know, we could do the blog thing, and still make TIEM in magazine format now and then. If someone chooses to not be lazy, they could pick the gems from the blog and flash them up all perty like once every few months. The two do not have to exist exclusively...

EDIT: Oh fuck, how did I miss Pineberry's post? Nevermind, ignore me.

I've been a front page Radakteur for a while now and I assume I still have the position since I can "post new article", so yeah, I'm gonna keep doing what I do, and hopefully more frequently since it looks like more people might actually read what's going on now.

There are a lot of good ideas in this thread so far. It makes me really happy to see, especially since I was just complaining about the lack of Tiem last a few weeks back. I contributed to the very first Tiem magazine we did, and if it's coming back in any way, shape, or form, I'd like to contribute again. I missed out on a lot in the years I've been away from CC.

One idea I wanted to point out is rather obvious, but we would want to have sections. Seeing as far for people will be contributing in a much more frequent basis, stories would get flooded down the front page and lost, or skimmed over. We may want to talk about what exactly we'd want to include in this Tiem.

As far as what I can contribute, I'd like to keep doing what I did before, and write music reviews. Concerts, albums, videos, whatever. I've been listening to a broad array of music for a while now, and can find items that can suit almost anyone's interest. Plus, I'm unemployed, so I've got ot plenty of time to kill.

The only way magazine > blog is the fact that the magazines had swell covers. Thats about it.

I would probably write some short fiction, and the occasional current events and opinion piece.

My only complaint about the switch from magazine to blog format is how the magazines allowed for cool designs and formats and layouts for the article that all seem pretty useless for a blog.  My thinking is we could still frame individual articles like a magazine and then, when enough people have submitted works, they can all be compiled into the next "issue" of the actual magazine.

Guys, please stop worrying about it not being in magazine format anymore, this is not the thread for that.

The last time I bumped a 3-month old thread I got banned, but I think getting people to sign up for TIEM is important enough to be bumped. (okay this is about 2 months, yadda yadda.)

I'd also like to take this opportunity to sign up for TIEM. I could write some community articles letting people know of current flash events/collabs going on, post links to important threads (such as Ribs Clockopedia Master List, this thread, clockopedia thread, etc.), and I could fill up the tutorials section with some basic stuff (once I figure out how CamStudio works, I could even post videos!).

You would make Tiem almost 100% less boring!

I can't imagine that recipes or general food advice are the kinds of things that you're interested in anymore.  I can do up a sample of movies/video games/current events related to these items if you're looking for articles pertaining to that.  Let me know and I'll whip something up to pm you guys.
