They aren't worth making movies about.

It's just a parody. In my next Flash Flood, other Clock Crew members will be laughing at the gibberish that StrawberryLock utters.

Seriously? What about the quality and content of the animation as a whole?

It was you talking about your self for what felt like 3 minutes. It was a solid bait and switch ok.

I like this guy so I'm holding back on critiquing his movie... especially since he's been giving me 6s and 7s and his reviews of mine. :)

I mean, he gave Tiptoe Thru The Tulips an 8 for God's sake.

Dude, what you have to realize is that the CC isn't going to care if you didn't put effort into it. We're going to like it because you're a good dude. But if you put effort into it, then hey, that's awesome! So stop thinking of us as some sort of buisness, and think of us as your family.

Hey, effort is important!

...on second thought, this picture of orange juice I submitted on Clockday still has a higher score than my most effort-intensive movie, so maybe not.

What have we learned here? Submitting movies on Clockday makes them better. Welp, my job here is done.

Wait, what I meant to say was that especially for comedies, good material is more important than flawless art and animation. For non-humorous animations (on Newgrounds, at least), you can often get away with high-quality art and a lame story, but that doesn't mean you should.

That sounds like a better lesson.

It's not about that, Blob.

NG has forgotten it's amateur showcase roots and migrated towards over-produced cookie cutter movies. How much video game, anime and Madness shit do we need to see already?

Clocks are preservationists brought together by love of a forgotten art form (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-line_joke).

Oh, don't worry about it. I'm not the least bit annoyed about being alternatively nicknamed "Suitcase," so why force them to break their habit?

Anyway, I understand that the Clock Crew is mainly about leisure, enjoyment and relaxation and that it was never meant to be taken seriously. I might occassionally delay my Clock Crew animations to spend more time on them and/or to just take breaks from them.

However, the reason why I am so focused and formative most of the time is because I believe that effort and professionalism are the key to success.

Quote from: ScrewdriverClockThe Clock Crew isn't about being the most popular member. It isn't about being an amazing flash artist. And most definately it isn't to cater to the Newgrounds Audience you came from. To be a clock is to do what comes naturally - have fun, make friends, and produce art for the sake of fun, nothing more. If people seem to dislike you at first, don't be disheartened, rather use that as a sense of motivation to prove to the community just how amazing you can be. Every person who joins the Clock Crew has the potential to be the next Strange or Koala or Blue, they just have to have the heart for it.

Porty, I'm not trying to sound like an ass... bcuz the guys will tell you that I'm one of the nicest and most positive people here. I'm messing with you to illustrate that you are looking too deep into stuff. I happen to think you're a talented mofo.

Taking art seriously as your business career is great... this is where you can go to escape that and just resort back to what made you want to be an artist to being with... because it's just fucking fun.

I don't know if you get the whole Clock Crew spirit when it comes to voting/reviewing yet, but here at the CC, we all vote 5 on each others work no matter how poor of quality it is. You always, always, vote 5 on a clock crew movie (that has been made by an actual member of the site) without hesitation. And for the reviews, don't do what you've been doing by giving them 6's and 7's and the like. It'll give a bad impression to others who go to that page. If we were all to review and vote in the same way you do right now, the Clock Crew would have died a while back. Just try to look at how other members respond to CC movies on newgrounds and maybe you'll get it.

Anyhow, I fived your latest movie, although I don't know why you used Strawberry Lock.

And Pop-Tart is right. FF is about mass production. Now we're not saying that you should make a whole bunch of crappy movies in a day's time, but you should put as much effort into it as you can (in a day's time).

I am aware of that, and I would love to work on Flash that often. But I have my art college coursework to deal with, and despite it giving me the opportunity to improve my character animation skills, my Clock Crew animation is 100% voluntary and unrelated.

In other words, I can only animate whenever free.

Well hey, I think if Porty wants to put extra effort into his clock flashes then he can. Hell, my first clock animations took me about two months each (and looking back those were probably my best clock animations and I now realize how lucky I was to get Strange to voiceact for those)

But enough of my shameless plugging. Every clock finds his or her own path, lets just help Porty with his content rather than tell him how to present it.

Title: Upcoming "Ain't No Love For The King of the Portal"
Post by: PortfolioClock on January 21, 2011, 08:43:51 AM
Greetings everyone.

Yesterday, I read the Clock Crew Tiem news stating the unexpected: the crowning of a new King of the Portal. When I read this, I was truly surprised and felt that it was all too sudden.

The original King of the Portal, Strawberry Clock, may have received universally mixed reaction from Newgrounders and non-Newgrounders alike. But he's been a major part of Newgrounds history for over an entire decade!

So, my next Flash Flood entry will be a Flash (censored)

Flash Flood is an event every January where we try to 'flood' the Portal with Clock movies. You absolutely should still make your series. I think it would B amazing..

As for SBC not being KOTP anymore, like Blob said... it was a just a silly theme for the day's movies. SBC could never be dethroned as the true King.

Good on you.

The whole thing is, we aren't here to cater to Newgrounds. That doesn't mean you can't make a flash that a Newgrounds user will enjoy, but don't make that your prime focus. Enjoy making flash for you, not for anyone else.

So while that means you could have fun trolling the NG populace, or just making films that don't fit the grain of typical NG content. And maybe you do want to create some NG styled content, just don't do it for anyone but yourself, k?

You can give all the constructive criticism you'd like on these forums, just vote 5 and 10 on newgrounds. We aren't denying you any freedoms, we're simply asking you to become a member.

If you're going to be a clock, let go of that ego and understand that we are a collective when it comes to movies. Pretend not to understand what the cc is about, but acknowledge its very name: Clock Crew. I don't care how bad you think another member's flash is, it's your duty to show them encouragement in the public eye. Encouragement is no less than a 5 and a 10.

Make movies about whatever the hell you want, however the hell you want. Just make sure you support everyone else the same way they'd support you, with the unconditional 5 and 10.

It isn't about Newgrounds, it's about getting him to take the right steps in terms of community. It's a matter of respect for every other member here. I'm pretty sure the few people who actually make flash would appreciate the support, not some so-so bullshit.

If you love it, 5/10/fave. If you're just ok with it, 5. Again, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. It's a pretty well understood concept, I don't even know why we have to explain it to him.

If you love it, 5/10/fave. If you're just ok with it, 5. Again, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all. It's a pretty well understood concept, I don't even know why we have to explain it to him.

Well, you don't have to explain this to me if you don't want to. In fact, you've already told me many times before.

You must be getting very tired to repeating yourselves over and over again and I hate wasting other people's time.

Quote from: MysteryEzekude;1805966Excuse me!?

I just took your point on the voting several hours ago and I calmly suggested that I might not be able to review with straight 10s!

If I was acting like a child then, then I would idiotically said like an average troll: "F**K YOU U F**KIN GAY FLASH C**T I VOTE AND REVU WHT I WNT NOW GO F**K YOURSELVES."

But I didn't.

You're excused. Not all children act the same. Some children have asterisk disorders while others disregard mindful advice.

QuoteIn fact, I've been putting up with your peer pressure for an entire month during the Flash Flood and it has had very little effect on me so far.
lol there's no such thing as peer pressure for a group you've joined online. You're able to leave whenever or if ever you want and no one would notice.

You can do anything you like here. Be a non-conformist, make the best flash the world has ever seen, get the clock crew famous with a tv spot on the bbc for all I care. All I'm asking of you is the simple courtesy of supporting those members who have already proven their worth and who are ready to take you in with open arms.

You should start relaxing a little instead of being so serious all the time, Portfolio.

Well, what about everyone else? Don't you think they're being too serious as much as I am?

I mean, whenever I try to respond to ideas, advice and suggestions here as calmly as possible, their disapproving reactions wind me back up again. And I think I'm getting stressed about the whole thing.

That's what I'm frustrated with at the moment. I can't relax without my misunderstanding of the Clock Crew spirit lurking in the back of my mind.

That was his own voice, though he surprisingly did an accurate impression of me. My real voice can be heard in CC Success Stories: Vol 2.

Nevertheless, glad to hear that I'm improving a little. Thanks, Vuvu. I feel better now.

...Wait, oh shit! I was supposed to be frustrated!

Your still too serious bra. Don't be all serious face. Also, I am making a flash about how everyone hates suitcase clock now. Will be done in a week or less.

I think ClockRadio summed this up pretty well. Just vote 5 review 10 on NG and if you have any actual problems with the movie, why not contact the member here and give them your criticism.

And if you don't understand the attitude of the Clock Crew, why not look at every classic CC movie you can. Remember, everything we're telling you to do is in hopes to make you understand and help you.

Yeah, I think you're right...My apologies, my thoughts must have been clouded at the time - it's often like that in real life as well. I'm definitely giving away my fives this time around. I appreciate your concern.

I've watched most of the classic CC movies by the King of the Portal himself several years ago, and I'm not sure if I fully understand its purpose. But I'm not gonna let that bring me down.

Hang on a minute...! I've just received a private message from YoYo Clock suggesting that I was being trolled into psychologically breaking down and succumbing to their demands from the start!

That must have been why I was getting frustrated in the first place! Sly bastards. *embarrased facepalm* I can't believe how easily I fell for the bait this time...

Well, one thing for sure, I'm not gonna let it happen again! I'm gonna start delivering precious fives to as many Clock Crew animations (and games) as possible, but on the other hand, I'm gonna keep on animating to my heart's content!

Blast that YoYoClock! He's the one who taught the cc psychological warfare in the first place.

Whatever makes you five. Also that's kind of weird seeing as how my animation has something to do with hearts *cough*Death Note*cough*.

Did he now? Perhaps he was the first Clock to see through the entire thing. Nevertheless, I'm still gonna keep on fiving.

Well, anyway, now that this year's Annual Flash Flood is over, I think there's no need to post messages in this one thread anymore. This will probably be my last post in this thread, because I believe it is finally ready to be locked. (No pun intended)

Feel free to lock this thread if you feel necessary. Thank you for all your support and apologies for any hassle.

I am, of course, attempting to be humorous.

But it has indeed introduced us to a very talented 2011 clock and proved that once again the Flash Flood can draw in quality members. So it served it's purpose well.

Now take it out back and shoot it so we can eat it.
