Title: Serious Sam 3
Post by: RobClock on February 28, 2011, 07:40:50 PM
Oh fucking hell, this year just keeps getting better and better!
Quote from: Shacknews
  • Frantic Arcade-Style Action - The calling card of the Serious Sam  series, hold down the trigger and lay waste to a never-ending onslaught  of attackers or face being overrun by Mental's savage beasts. No cover  systems, no camping - it's just you and them. All of them.
  • Mental's  Fearsome Legions - A new battalion of unforgettable minions including  the rumbling Scrapjack and towering Khnum join the legendary Headless  Kamikaze, Gnaar and Sirian Werebull. Your days of mowing down zombie  Nazi space pirates are over.
  • Serious Melee Attacks - When  an enemy slips by your wall of lead and pain, use one of the all-new  innovative melee moves to drop an enemy right where they stand in the  most violent way possible.
  • Pure Multiplayer Mayhem - Play  through the full campaign mode with up to 16 players or drop the  gauntlet and let the heavy ordinance fly in versus modes like Deathmatch  and Beast Hunt. This is the next level of Serious Sam multiplayer and  all hell is about to break loose.

It's due out this Summer!

- the wonderful source of all this goodness -

Fucking awesome, I'm on the last level of Second Encounter (I think).

Also it looks like my computer will not be able to run that game.

I bought them all back in the summer, but have yet to play them. Now I have to get on this ASAP.

I like SS2.  It's not as impossible as the first but I don't see anything wrong with it.

Doing the campaign with 16 people sounds like a cool idea.

I beat SS1 on Serious and I'm never going to do that again unless I play some goddamn co-op.

i don't remember for sure since it's been years and years since i played through ss fe and se, but i don't ever recall it being too hard on normal, though i'm pretty sure the higher difficulties were added mostly for MP

i did get the HD versions on steam but my nigg0s had some technical difficulties so we didn't play it much

Quote from: RibsClock;1813287You have simultaneously gained and lost respect, because while that's an impressive feat the waste of human effort that would be sunk into such an endeavor could probably cure cancer.
If it makes you feel better it took me 16 hours to pull off.

Nope, you know what that just made me sadder.

Quote from: RibsClock;1813311I remember on FE the particularly hard parts being towards the end when you had the endless bull and mechanoid swarms from all sides with no cover.

I'll be honest I died over and over and over and over

huh, i just dodged all that shit

lots of bulls was annoying since they would come at ya from every damn angle constantly but mechs don't do shit as long as you don't sit still since they aim for the ground

actually i guess the boss was pretty tough, or at least took a while to bring down, and you had to use the bouncey things or whatever to get around the pyramid arena

the laser mechs were kind of annoying too

anyway i hope they don't mess this up

i liked ss2, kind of anyway, but hated the sirians and natives of every planet

I'm just realizing that some or most of you guys are talking about SS HD.  Why the hell have I not played co-op yet?

I think it'd be a lot of fun if we got on that sometime.

Metacritic scores:

Sam 1 First encounter PC: 87/100
Sam 2 PC 74/100.
Sam 3 better have at least 85. It looks like call of duty gfx with HD doom 2 monsters.

Good news folks, turns out I only beat SS1 HD on "Hard' difficulty, not "Serious". I just got the difficulty orders messed up.

Also I just 5 minutes ago beat SS2 HD.

Quote from: RibsClock;1814096Still a preposterously difficult feat but not unimaginable

Again I still don't understand why "mental" difficulty even exists.
Mental is easy mode for Japanese.

Reveal trailer:

From the very little actual gameplay they showed, it looked like a Serious Sam game; the number of enemies, the way they were charging, and the speed at which Sam moved.

Subsequently, I don't ever remember using iron-sights in this series before.

Where do you find time to use iron-sights in a Serious Sam game?

So I had the chance to play Serious Sam 1 co-op before.

That game goes by SO much faster with another person, I'm amazed.  Were those games always sorta supposed to be played cooperatively because that's the vibe I'm picking up from it.
