I don't believe the final thread did much justice for anything, so I'll create a better one, but if anything it's always nice to have a better first impression!
YES, I have read the rules. No need to post them, I joined in September '10. Or something.
I was invited by ScrewDriverClock/K3ltron a while back and wanted to post again, for the sole reason that I do like animations despite having a very minuscule appearance with it but happy to learn, but also I think SDC did ask me a few times.
The only thing I can do albiet shittily is draw, which is here. (http://mrkawaii.deviantart.com/) So at first I will doubtfully be able to contribute much.
And in accordance with the last thread, my gender is indeed set for a reason there, so now you have no reason to refer to me as a 'female'. Thank you.
So now I just want to clear two things up, SDC never reiterated the history of the clock idea to me or anything, so if someone can explain to me what the story is, that'd be great.
Secondly, since 'anime' faces or any faces at all are quite a pain in the arse to everyone, perhaps you should tell me if)) is not allowed. )) is a typical smiley face if you have been anywhere around the internet and I tend to use it a lot, so tell me now before I get banned again.
if screwdriver and katamari vouch for you i think we'll get along since imo theyre some of the raddest clocks around at the moment
and yeah anime smileys are super annoying; whats wrong with normal smileys? : )
edit: oh yea and for a clock name i really would not recommend mrkawaii clock or kawaii anything for that matter. dont rush to get a name though anyway because in a month or a year you will find you hate it besides nobody likes it when people flub around and take up clock names they dont even use

Awesome. And good to hear, thanks. It does kind of get annoying saying everything without an emotion, lol.

luckily for you and everyone the people here at the clock crew are slightly more intelligent than your standard forum morons so they can pretty much get the gist of what your expressing without the need for a stupid little face

spending my time identifying myself as a cyclopean object is so worth my time as a person on this gay earth
i want to talk to young ugly uninteresting losers about denying our worthlessness outside these roleplay walls
i want to defile, abuse and completely misunderstand every single aspect of art, and never risk progressing in any meaningful way
i want to eternally perpetuate some faggot shit social status inherited from some nobody who randomly made a thing once
any tiny ounce of doubt i create in anyone's mind about this shit is so worth the 2 minutes a day it takes to shit over your gay ass playground
LOL XD
whats funny is that almost everyone here just uses this place as place to talk about different topics, not a place to gather and make art. despite what you say, some of the people here are enjoyable to talk to.
everyone knows the CC is dead, you are preaching to the choir
you are right about the inherited faggot shit social status though, that is the only hollow shell that is left.
how superior of almost all of you

This isn't completely true. There is less of an incentive to make cartoons compared to how things have been prior, but people are still making them and occassionally there is even a good one.
The CC taught me how to animate, it even taught Munglai how to animate, and countless more of us.
i think the clock crew's problem most of the time is the unwillingness to move away from the clock-for-a-face concept even for a single animation. dlc, i agree how it can be a weight that restricts from the artists' real potential, but only really when we consider it mandatory. In that case, it becomes a crutch. Otherwise, there are people who manage to keep it fresh. We should be a group of artists which chooses to collaborate, self-improve, and share work with one another, rather than one which feels obliged to use pre-existing concepts and gags.
The clock crew we knew almost a decade ago is obviously dead. This is not neccessarily a bad thing. Everything changes over time and if we were playing our cards right we would have progressed into something better than what we were.
Newgrounds is slowly dying, and we've relied on it all this time as a life source. We currently don't host any of our cartoons on our website. It's unfortunate that in this point in time, anything we make fades away after not so long. most of us know we need to be more independant and see things from a bigger perspective than just newgrounds

From what I see from my long hiatus is that we've been rapidly declining, and the site redesign just makes the site feel so much smaller. I once got endless enjoyment from browsing the debate thread (where you were reminded that if you lost you would likely be banned), the medical help thread, and the writing thread. There was Coal's mentorship thing, among other things. It seems that at some point, interest has been lost in continuing these things. And yes, sadly NG is dying, but it has been for years. We, however, weren't dying. Our members were making videos, making posts, and being sociable. At the point when I joined, CBM was long gone, most (if not all) of the originals were gone, I think Leek was the leader, but everything seemed to work. I'm not too sure how this can be remedied, but I'm willing to help. Ciao for now.

He basically said he's not going to answer the question as it's not worth the time. He shit posts because he hates the clock crew as it exists today? Why even bother?
Oh, okay. I'm fairly certain you misinterpreted.
When he said it's worth the two minutes a day, he was being sincere. He comes here to spread doubt about the integrity of the community, and it doesn't take much, so it's worth whatever effort is expended.
This isn't really surprising. It's not like he's been hiding it- remember when he was touting "ban everyone"?
He hasn't been completely forthcoming about his perception (more criticism and opening wounds than qualitative assessment imho), but if I had to guess, I'd say the reason for his attitude is he's disgusted with our complacency. And while I'm too optimistic agree with him, I also couldn't begrudge the sentiment.
If we were to conduct an honest appraisal of ourselves (and if we can't do that I don't know how we could expect to maintain any sense of integrity) we'd probably note that most of us (myself included) spend an inordinate amount of time in equal parts walking around in circles and jerking each other off. Eight years in and I still haven't learned to animate a fucking walk cycle.
I try not to complain about the state of things because complaining never results in anything, I'd prefer to push changes I'd like to see with my own activity (lethargic though I may be), and I enjoy the community and honestly believe we'll find some damn fine direction to head eventually.
But to be honest the last Clock Crew thing I was completely stoked to see pan out was... well (http://www.clockcrew.cc/talk/showthread.php?92503-post-clockcrew-HQ)...
edit: or maybe I'm over-extrapolating.
wouter can comment if he bothers to read this.

But to come back repeatedly, the hate would have to be weirdly persistent. That's what I don't understand. We are a small weird little internet forum. Did we affect him in some way personally that he hates? The best I can come up with is that he thinks joining ended up holding him back and stunting his potential.

it's the potential of this website as a creative social platform that was stunted imo, and that (somehow still) hurts me because i have spent a lot of time here
I hoped this group would grow with it's members, encouraging creative collaboration that helps people grow as artists, and not cling to a creative dogma that simply carries too little relevant weight to continue pretending it to be some powerful creative axiom
while i think the idea of a shared creative collective of associations from which we all draw part of our creative inspiration is something that can be an asset to both the individual and the group it is the way in which we encourage each other to interact with this culture and with each other that limits the growth of this process intellectually
people are led into a narrowly defined role of community story teller, which has a very low creative ceiling, and when this ceiling is reached the member either leaves or removes his creative pursuits away from the group, which seems counter productive
it simply seems regrettable to perpetually approach the medium which largely embodies everything this group is about with such a limited perspective, its discouraging to people who are truly connected to the practice and disrespectful to the arts in general imo
clockcrew needs to reevaluate how its history controls its identity and purpose as a creative group and how that affects it's value towards it's members
etc
somebody help me pick up all these words i vomited
