Long overdue IMO
I think news of this magnitude is worthy of a thread outside the Valve general thread

Both Defuse (de_) and Hostage (cs_) map types confirmed!

Gameplay has elements similar to both CS:S and CS 1.6
Classic maps (with both minor and major modifications) include: Dust2, Dust, Aztec, Inferno, Nuke, Train
Molotov grenade: creates area of fire that slows players crossing through it
Decoy grenade: emits fake weapon firing sounds to confuse enemies about your position
Bullets penetrate some walls and objects like CS 1.6
Many changes to weapons, as well as new weapons
Classic gameplay: no ironsights
Beta in September or October (Unconfirmed)

I doubt we see Half Life 3 before Team Fortress 3, or maybe neither because valve has a tremendous fear of the number 3

We already have the Valve games thread, but I'll post in here while this is available.
This sounds like a good idea. Hopefully everyone that currently plays 1.6 will like this game. Seeing as 1.6 is still being played professionally, it would be nice to have everyone switch over once the new game comes out, but I feel like it might be a slow conversion. Unless, all of the tournaments stop hosting 1.6 and force players to play the new game.
It will be nice to have a new FPS e-sports title though. StarCraft 2, Street Fighter 4, CounterStrike 2.

I want to see if Valve can add some sort of story mode considering the talent they got doing that. I have been wanting them to show off with CS since the Battlefield/Modern Warfare war game trend started.

But then why would they specifically mention cross system play? It's been there for a long time, i've been playing CSS on my mac with mmy friends who own PC's for years. It's far from anything new.
