Create hidden subforum for discreet discussion of piracy?

ok yeah I realized don't want piracy talk all over the forums either. that would be pretty hurtin i admit
however I think having a hidden subforum (probably within the spam forum? idk) would be a much better idea. discreet enough to not annoy people/get in trouble etc and still be able to discuss the best possible deals on games/movies/other crap (in the past i've gotten useful shit such as that massive collection of hanna-barbera sound effects off of torrent websites. just an example)
in the past we've had a 100% visible drugs forum so I don't think a hidden torrent subforum this is too ridiculous of a proposition
so vote
This is a good idea.
drugs forum was hidden to non official clocks actually.
I would imagine an initiative such as this should probably be discussed in a more private location.

my mistake
either way im proposing an even higher state of security for this super secret forum. think fort knox except goldfinger cant even get in

as long as it remains an official initiative
Quote from: RibsClock;1868846My concern is that there is some other practical/legal reason why we do not allow for it in the first place. It seems to me that the Clock Crew has never been really opposed to piracy, and we wouldn't have a rule against discussing it unless there was a good reason. Then again, that rule's been around longer than I have, I may be under a mistaken impression there.
make it so secret not even tom and wade can find out
ps. clear out your fucking inbox

The reason its banned is cause if we are are a source for pirated material we can easily be taken down. And since NG hosts us now it complicates it further. I'm not sure what their stance is on piracy. Does the NGBBS link to torrents?
Quote from: RibsClock;1868850Oh and yeah we definitely don't want to be doing anything that Tom and Wade could be held liable for hosting should it get leaked.
This is probably my only objection to a piracy subforum. Unless we have a server of our own as well as a host willing to take the heat for any piracy-related issues, I don't suggest we go through with it. Sticking it to the Fulps is not the wisest nor the most respectful thing to do.

i seriously doubt it
We are the ClockCrew
We run newgroun-
I mean newgrounds runs us.
unless we literally have people shouting and screaming "hey look at all this shit i just torrented via clockcrew.cc" i doubt we will ever get investigated for piracy. which is why i proposed making it hidden so that kind of shit doesn't happen. if we dont get linked to, it shouldnt ever become a problem
We can always just have a link that redirects to here (http://clocktopia.net/forumdisplay.php?f=68). If its hosted off site we dont get in trouble I dont think.
Is it really so hard to find torrents that you need an entire subforum for it? Really? I don't remember ever having a hard time finding something I wanted to pirate

which might get me into trouble!!!
The hosting on
ct.net expires in ~250 days though so it'd only be a temp measure.

This too, and mac torrents are a little more difficult to find what such high supply of "windows98/2000/XP/Vista/7/8/9" flooding search results.
do whatever as long as it doesnt harm or disrespect tom in any way imo
idk if piracy would
Quote from: RibsClock;1868863Remember that time they came on here and started spamming and trolling us and then made us celebrate a day about them every year and then we started hosting them so they could more effectively use us as a vehicle for their pompous internet subculture
he does kind of have a point though.
no, because discussing piracy is and always has been against the rules. you compare it to the drug forum but we never had a policy against posting about drugs before.
if this was our site, i could get behind rationalizing it for a forum like that, but since it is tom doing the hosting, i'd say no out of respect for the guy.

This times a million
pussies
honestly we can probably just keep it in blast or on clocktopia. As much as I'd like to see it here, I just don't see how we would be able to do it with Newgrounds essentially already hosting the site.
If we could get the OK from tom or wade (which we won't) I'd support this.

miraclefruit, start your own clock crew where you can post nsfw images and torrents. eventually you'll become staff here, that's how these things work.
I figure there are other sites for that sort of thing. I don't think we really need anything like that here.
Lets make a hidden pirate forum where we all roleplay and pretend were pirates.

just beg random people for an invite to waffles.fm or some shit it'd accomplish much more than a piracy subforum

It's to avoid violating the ToS of the host, quite an old rule. Piracy has always been discussed in private, though
certain other clock crew sites have had piracy subforums. As far as the Fulps seeing things, they're not realistically going to go digging through our stuff looking for hidden things.
But yeah, I don't know why anyone needs a piracy subforum anyway. If you can't figure shit out, ask someone. We have a group of reasonably knowledgeable individuals.
Talking about piracy definitely shouldn't be against the rules. I'm sure it's not against any TOS or law to discuss piracy as long as we don't post any links. We should at least link to Clocktopia's piracy forum since Clocktopia is pretty much dead and could use the hits.
It's against our TOS to talk about piracy. What you talk about in clocktopia is none of my business. Do what you want with that site, but leave it out of here. We have to respect the man paying the bills, and that's Tom.
Are you referring about the TOS you give to us, the user, or the TOS set by the hosting company/tom? Also what does the TOS actually say? Just curious is all. But yeah if it's against your TOS with Tom/Tom's host to even discuss or encourage piracy or maybe just ambiguously worded, then I can see the point of restricting it.
