Am I playing it wrong or is it an uninteresting and complicated piece of shit compared to super meat boy?
I'be heard very mixed reviews, but it's apparently similar to Legend of Zelda, with roguelike elements
isnt super meat boy a platformer?
this is a roguelike and i've heard from fans of the genre, the binding of isaac is really really good.
Well yeah it's a different genre game but I've played it for 20 minutes or so and it's incredibly boring. I thought I might be missing something.
Zelda + roguelike? That actually sounds kinda awesome.

Well then don't play it. Some games are not for everyone.
I don't see any way this could be better than Nethack, so whenever I feel the urge to try this game I just go play Nethack instead
speaking of which I still got to try nethack... and dwarf fortress.

This. I for one find it amazingly fun, scavenging for items and the way they pulled the random room generator. The unforgivingness can be intensely frustrating, although it kept me playing for a while because of my obsessiveness to get everything. Although, I really liked SMB, so my opinion is probably a little biased.

Nethack has a GUI prepackaged with it now, if you find the ASCII too hard.
But if you use it you're a pussy.

Use spoilers liberally.
I find the game really fun. It's nice and simple that gets more fun as it goes on.
And this is coming from somebody who loves Super Meat Boy.
