Beetle and Peyote pretty much nailed it.

Culturally, the Islamic world is still in the middle ages.

And in the 70s the neoconservative Islamic resurgence pretty much squelched out any hope of modernization.

But any culture with such a mindset would reactively act that way against modernization, regardless of religion. But the fact that the religion in question encourages the idea of "Jihad" only makes the situation worse.

Moses also slaughtered countless Canaanites- on the order of God- men women and children alike (although sometimes he would allow the Israelites to take a few of the Canaanite virgin daughters as slaves).

It would be funny if they made the rest of Exodus into The Prince of Egypt II. The animated family feature of the year!

The Bible has violent and provocative statements just like the Koran does.

But the main difference is that the Muslim world isn't used to the fact that sometimes, just sometimes, other people don't agree with you and will shit all over your ideas and everything you hold sacred.

Look at Christianity. Who cares if someone burns a bible? Try doing a youtube search for "bible burning" compared to "koran burning" (702 compared to 95) People burn so many bibles it's outright boring. Blasphemy gets old after a while, and even though they believe it's wrong, Catholics realize that the sun will still rise the next day, even if some guy wears an AV t-shirt that says "I FUCK NUNS".

The point: Heresy will always exist. It is a natural part of society as it challenges irrationality and the status quo. Deal with it.

Necrapolis / Zeitgeist - The Movie
July 23, 2007, 11:42:41 PM
My first remark upon seeing this is that I automatically distrust anything including the phrase "Zeigeist". As much of a german fanboy as I am, every time I have heard that word it has been out of the lips of a pretentious fucktard. I found this movie to be no different.

PART 1:

First off, the stuff about Horus equaling Christ is a total crock of bullshit. I have NO IDEA how anybody could even try to pass this off as legitimate. There are NO LEGENDS WHATSOEVER that relate to what they showed in the video. This was the most frustrating part to watch. As much as I love silly conspiracy theories, this is by far the most I'm a edgy teen piece of shit I have ever seen. Even more I'm a edgy teen than Loose Change, which is pretty hard to top.

There is heavy historical suggestion of Jesus's actual existence, but the reason no major Roman historian wrote about him was because NOBODY CARED at the time. To roman eyes he was just one of the many random judaean rabble-rousers who were crucified. He didn't have a massively popular following like they think.

Why would the Romans invent all this shit? "Hey, we've got this unpopular little cult called 'Christianity'. Let's make it a state religion and control people WOOHOOO!!!!". Romans hated the Christians, especially after Nero blamed them for the burning of Rome (rumored to be the result of Nero's own incompetence) and started the infamous "throw 'em to the lions" religicide schtick. If they wanted to indoctrinate people into submission, Christianity was NOT the way to go, which is why Constantine ended up splitting the empire and moving the Byzantine when he declared Christianity the new state religion.

PART 2:

See Loose Change for more details. This has been disproved a bunch of times.

Simply put, if this was true, SOMEBODY would say SOMETHING. But nobody has. Don't give me this intimidation crap, this plot would require the cooperation of loads of people to keep their mouths shut but we haven't heard a peep out of anyone, not even in these shitty documentaries.

PART 3:

The bankers are evil! The corporations are taking our SOULS! A bit paranoid, but ok, I can dig that.

Dude, we TRIED doing without a central bank. It's called the ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION, you dipshits, and it didn't work.

(Oh and as a side note, I find it funny that they cite a quote by William Jennings Bryan... considering he was a zealous Fundamentalist creationist who pretty much washed up after a circus debate over trying to ban evolution from being taught in schools)

I could watch the Lusitania conspiracy theory without vomiting but the whole FDR/Pearl Harbor thing made me blow chunks all over my keyboard.

Honestly, 911 has nothing to do with Iraq. But I will give them credit for the likeness between Hitler's and Bush's regimes.

While I admit that the government is pretty sneaky and corrupt, the whole thing about pop culture being a weapon of the Man is just pure paranoia. While it is decadent and idiotic, the government has no part in it. Americans have just become that stupid on their own.

The "Amero"? Why the fuck would anyone create a new currency for a unified north america when the dollar is already the most commonly accepted currency on the continent, especially in Mexico? Huh? And even if that's true, it's downright idiotic to say that making a new standard currency equals the destruction of the constitution and the enslavement of the American people.

Yeah, we will have one world government, that's what happens when people stop raiding each other's tribes long enough talk to each other. In fact, we already have a world government, it's called the UN... just nobody gives a shit about it.

Even so, no self-respecting man-behind the curtain would ever say "we can restrict peoples' liberties" and "our ultimate goal is to make digital chips in everybody so we can control them". At that point they might as well just start twirling their mustaches and let fly with a hearty cackle.

I must admit the chip idea is realistically scary though. But that idea has been around for ages.

In summary, the total thing was a huge load of fuck. Yes, fuck is a noun. Many points cite believable evidence, but I don't know my stuff about the economic/political points... but I have studied religion and mythology enough (heck, that doesn't matter, you'd only need a rudimentary grasp of the subject) to know that the first third of the movie was almost entirely fabricated. (I don't care if he cited his sources, whoever made the sources were on some serious dope) Therefore this casts doubt over the validity over the rest of the movie. If the first part is undeniably a load of made-up shit, what's stopping me from assuming the rest of the movie isn't a load of made-up shit? In fact, if whoever made this had just omitted the first part, they would have been alot more believable, but instead they had to totally ruin their credibility with the "Jesus is Horus" bullshit.

Simply put, I wanted to go to bed early but this load of hooey made me upset enough to watch it and then write an angry review...  >Z(

absolutely awesome. Too bad you might not complete it by this evening. It looks really cool.

I've been considering making a zebu clock mask out of an old model I made, but I'm probably too lazy.
