I think Zero Punctuation summed it up pretty well. Portal is a basket with a few cherries, while Portal 2 is a basket with a stockpile of cherries with sawdust in it too.

While Portal 2 doesn't COMPLETELY look my cup of tea, the new concepts (like the bouncy/grease/portal gel, Wheatley's stupidity, etc) I'm still inclined to get it because I have the first one and although it looks dragged out, it does look more exciting to say the least.
