holy shit

there's a game called blobun that, as far as i can tell, isn't a porn game or anything. Just a puzzle game with the LGBTQ+ tag on steam

there's a toggle in the settings to disable lesbians

if you flip it, you get a game over screen because there's nobody left to save the world

actually if you'd stop being such a poser and actually read the bible, you'd know that every time a bell rings, a angel gets its wings. they used to be cute! they were just dudes. by the end of the bronze age, though, improvements in manufacturing techniques meant that there were a lot more wings to add since humans had bells EVERYWHERE, and angels had to enter the fourth dimension to accommodate all these new wings (the "biblically accurate angel"). by the invention of the sleighbell shit was fucked and clarence from it is one wonderful life was actually the human-like terminal digit (like a finger) of

wait no he was a normal dude. hadn't heard a bell yet. that was the plot.

which I fully admit was not the proper response to that genuinely good joke, but I was also kind of looking for an our because I was definitely stealing entertainment from the knowledge store

I read the first like.. ten trade paperbacks of naruto IN A BOOKSTORE WITHOUT PAYING (i did buy coffee at least) and even back then there were like a billion books, i was only catching up

in like the tenth or eleventh one, a character says something along the lines of "Shut up, Naruto. You're not even the main character in your own manga," and I went... oh yeah, then stopped reading

it took me a really long time to get over every browser deciding that (pure) autoplay needs to be blocked but i BEGRUDGINGLY CONCEDE that, with the benefit of hindsight, the internet is a much better place even if my blog can't have the sailor moon music box playing over it

I was thinking about that the other day when my boss complained about a download site being slow. The page was white for a few seconds and then blinked, fully, into existence, then the download link did nothing for a little bit before starting a 10MB/s download

it's like

Yeah, if you wanted a 1MB file in the 90's, that's 10-30 minutes (it was at least stable at the speed thanks to phone lines if you had dial-up) but it cannot be overstated the compounding effects of everything being shittier, too. It wasn't one big wait when you wanted one big file. It was every image on every page loading three vertical rows of pixels at a time, waiting to download the 250kb Naked_Picture_of_Alexandra_Paul.bmp, then having to start completely over when someone picked up the phone because your OS is also from the 90's so your options are 'start over' and 'give up', and then the unfinished one didn't delete and you're out of room so you have to start over a THIRD time only to find out it's a drawing of inuyasha kissing simba

where was i going with this

my boss is only seven years younger than me but he only plays jrpgs and has only played jrpgs since he was a kid so i can blow his mind with the slightest sushi slice thin wafer of culture and it's been going to my head lately, sorry

fighting tooth and nail to find the right voice packs for each midi only to have it called preset not even twenty years lat—

..wait

not even thirty years later

not what you were talking about but I do occasionally listen to midi files i've saved, lamenting that i have no idea what i used to make them sound the way they did. the closest I can find for this one is someone actually running it in the program it was made in

which would be cool except that isn't how i listened to it. The slur (music term) sounded so much better, which at this point is likely just me remembering wrong

going deeper into this same tangent, there used to be a zip floating around of just about every midi file that people had on their homepages / whatever on the whole internet and it isn't even that large because .mid

maybe not the ideal way to browse them but https://www.windows93.net/ has that folder with a baked in synth labeled as "MIDI Jukebox" on the desktop. I can't point at any single instrument as being bad but I also can't find a single one of these I remembered that sounds good on it :shrug emoji:

i forgot where I was going with this
