I -might- start fucking around in flash again at some point. i'll have to learn everything again and i'm sure there's loads of new features i'll have to get to grips with (last version i used was MX i think)...but i've had lots of cool ideas for some crazy psychedelic movies and things. we'll see. can you get free trials of the current version?
how the fuck are you guys anyway. it's been a while, any crazy shit happen?

Reading and Writing / meh
June 04, 2009, 01:46:35 AM
today i went walking and spent a couple of hours in a place i haven’t been in a while. i sat, smoked cigarettes, melted into the concrete and had conversations with the traffic.
whilst i was there i thought to myself that at some point i’m going to look up and sitting opposite will be someone just as flawed as me. we’ll share eachother in our loneliness and without saying a word be obtuse within eachother’s self destruction.
i saw tell-tale artifacts she’d left behind- an empty pack of menthol cigarettes, breadcrumbs, a pigeon feather. there was no doubt that she was there once, her cigarette glowing as she inhales, brushing the red hair from across her face. and yet i never saw her.
i gagged and threw away my cigarette in disgust.
a cat approached me on the way home and i ignored it.

Pokemon Stadium / Tattoo design (favour)
May 25, 2009, 06:33:19 PM
I've got a design idea for my next tatoo, it's going to be a wraparound going on my ankle/calf area.
Basically some branches with crows on them, and the branches are poking out of water.

This is a crude mockup of what I want, the existing crow was done a couple of weeks ago now. Highres photos of the drawings I did can be provided if you need them.
I'm asking; could anyone please do me a vector version of this, or something very similar? With just transparent fades for the water bit, maybe add some ripple shapes if you feel like it. The only thing I want different is the second crow from the left, the silhouette I drew from was of a magpie, the head/beak shape and tail length is different on a crow. Also, the different parts are all wrong in regards to proportions between them, so if you can make the branch sizes/bird sizes consistent throughout the image (cause they're not in my mockup) that'd be great. Can anyone help me out please? I can't really do anything in return but you'll be getting your artwork on my leg forever.

and you want to invite her round to your crib to smoke some nederweit, right? see here's what you do, right. you walk up to her, look her dead in the eyes and say this, "Well, if it isn't amsterdam's finest. wanna hook up and smoke some of amsterdam's finest?"

Entertainment / Converge
May 21, 2009, 01:56:58 PM
Converge are a hardcore band from Salem, Massachusets. They're heavy, extreme, and they take punk rock to a whole new level. Usually thrashy as fuck, but with ambience and aggressiveness too. Check them out if you like anything grindy, noisy, or extreme.
Some songs are available to listen here: http://www.myspace.com/converge
(Try "the saddest day"- huge breakdown at the end, and "last light"). The production's very raw and open. The singer Jacob Bannon is a graphic designer, and does all the artwork for them.

He's also a fantastic writer- look into some Converge lyrics and you'll be inspired and impressed.

My friends and I are all huge fans, three of us have got Converge tattoos, I don't regret mine one bit. I've found that it's impossible to be a casual converge fan- everyone who I've introduced them to has grown to love them hardcore over time.

Music videos?

taster of the new album, love the breakdown at the end:

This is hilarious, check out 2:39, the bassist swings his bass into someone. ouch!

Is anyone else a fan? For those who haven't heard them before, what did you think?

Reading and Writing / Ark

Hi guys :) it's been a while

QuoteMast broken and sails ripped
beyond repair, I will take you by your left hand
and lead you in a melancholy waltz:
Forcing smiles through tired eyes as
We go down with our ship

Oh! It was a sad, sad, sad tale of
want and misery-
Stranded in the ocean, there was nothing to drink.
We didn't let that stop us; we didn't need food and
water! "My dear, we will simply
live off eachother's regrets".

Our ship, now fully submerged, groaned and creaked
with age.
"It's just notes in the symphony",
..and in the freezing water we
danced on.

Getting darker, getting colder,
we were gaining speed as our
wreck submitted
further to the
inky hopeless
depths

Exhausted, we drown, hand in hand,
hearts beating in 3/4 time

Any tips? This was pretty influenced by Jacob Bannon's artwork but apart from that I don't really know what I'm doing:

Reading and Writing / wrote a song, critique pls
October 01, 2008, 05:26:10 PM
I wrote some words and i'm gonna put them to music. the rhythm fits nicely with the music i've written for it but i'm not sure if it sort of makes sense or if the words work. any sort of crit would be nice for it to help it flow in some way. i'm trying to write in the style of Aaron Weiss' lyrics.

Quoteyou were the raven, i was a dove
and together we built this house
yet you couldn't taste my love
for all the lies in your mouth
you persisted, i didn't mind that you
were undeserving of trust
i was young, naive and blind;
my vision obscured by lust

i left for a thousand years,
today i return, humble and meek
you said "my dear, all that you were to me
was the flavour of the week
but now it's different, i'm oh so different.
and now you're every thing i want"
you're far too late, my darling- it's dead;
i'm dead, so cast your stone and move on

Started a southern rock/hardcore type band with some friends (the drummer is waterclock). Recording quality's horrible (taken from a video at a house show) and the playing's not great (we'd had a few) but you get the idea I guess.

Should have proper recordings up in the next month. I think we're doing a split with another band.
