So, as you may or may not have heard, my pc is dead. I was hoping that the people who recognize themselves in the title would help me by perusing some shit and giving their opinion.

I'm not looking for anything in particular, nor cutting edge. My old gonk served just fine for 11+ years and that was a prebuilt. I'm not really doing much in terms of gaming. But I would like to be able to, say when Diablo IV comes out. Maybe play WoW when my inevitable winter depression kicks in?

I don't know if that's attainable still? Buying a pc and have it last like my old one? I'm more likely to download a Settlers II rom than to play Call of Duty 47: Fuck Force. It won't bother me that I can't play new games in 5 or 10 years say. (In the highly unlikely event that something comes out that I have to play, I'll deal with it then.)

There's this store here that supposedly pretty cheap, and has a whole bunch of prebuilts it can deliver to my house tomorrow. (I got the dead one there also I believe.) For reasons beyond human understanding, their website doesn't have an English language option. However most of the specs are pretty easily recognizable I hope? If need be, I can translate where necessary. The most I'd be willing to spend is like 700, but if the above can be achieved comfortably for a lot less, that's a bonus.

It's just one line. I'd prefer it if you didn't sound fourteen or awkward but I'm probably gonna edit it anyway.

I'm still laboring away at my Clock Day movie and for the most part it's going fine, but at some point a tapeworm is introduced. Thing is, the body is rather long, thin and small (all I got is an animated cream-colored tube) and none of the heads I drew really worked/read on screen. The best one I came up with had the tube opening like a blooming flower.* Anyway, I could use some suggestions. You know it's going to be talking, so animating that should be workable too. So no uh... non-Euclidian phantasmagorias.

Ok, those are allowed too, if they're good enough. We have about three weeks left and I've only completed two semi-elaborate animations so far, but who cares. Get nuts.


*Writing this, maybe I could combine the blooming flower thing with a second face being revealed inside that. Although it's probably too small for that.

My current pc is over ten years old. It overheats, it makes a lot of noise. I get these warnings about a sector of the hd being irreparably damaged and it being prone to fail entirely (for about a year now). So maybe it's about time to get a new one.

What do I look for? Stuff like DDR4, SDD, I don't know. I don't keep up with this stuff. I saw this pre-built one for 700 euros, let's take it as a jumping off point:

What are we talking here? Days? Weeks? The fact that it's only 256 GB is a way to keep the price down I assume? My old hunk of junk has 1 TB.

Hi! I'm trying to copy and paste an animated gif with a bunch of bitmaps into a file, but it keeps asking me to keep or replace certain symbols. The weird thing is, I already copied the movieclip containing the gif to a new blank file and changed ALL the names of all the parts, yet it still it wants to overwrite some shit in the target file. I've also changed the names of all the offending bitmaps in the target file. What gives?

Some of you are pretty tech savvy I'm sure, so please help me identify what the actual issue even is, because I'm not exactly sure what to googleâ,,¢.* Lately, when I stream TV on my PC I sit there, on the couch, enjoying the program when all of a sudden (every ten minutes or so) it skips back ten, twenty seconds and repeats what I've already seen. (This only started happening a week ago, before that it was hours of non-stop streaming fun.) After the short repeat is done the framerate seems to drop to about one and it looks like I'm watching a slideshow, sometimes it freezes. I have to get up, refresh the page and restart the stream, AGONY! It doesn't happen on Youtube for example, which leads me to believe that this might be an issue with the particular service, and not with my connection? (Although the service's FAQ response is: "You and your connection are the root of all problems in the world, past, present and future, fuck you forever.") My connection is a stable 40Mb/s, but I guess it could be a short time-out on my end or whatever? Although one would think that something like that would become apparent elsewhere as well, no? So what is this indicative of? Thanks very much friends.

I designed a character for a FLASH MOVIE and I want him moving around quite a bit. It has a number of internal loops that would skip/jump if I add keyframes to it in the main timeline (unless I put the whole thing inside one huge tween, but that has certain drawbacks). Another option would be to put all the relevant dialog sound clips inside the character movie clip (but that also has its drawbacks). The main problem is the adding of an animated mouth. If the character is animated within a movie clip, you can't see where the mouth should be. In the past I used to place it somewhere in the general area and that was fine, but a lot of work. I'm thinking there might be an easier way to do this. What would be really helpful, is if I could put (spitballing here) a 1x1 pixel dot with an instance name inside the character movie clip at the "mouth" and have a seperate movie clip with the mouth animation that, using actionscript, would identify the location of the dot and place itself there or something. Is something like that possible and if so how?

Especially about the process of how those brown negatives get turned into color photos. How does that work? How does one shade of brown get translated into blue and another into red?
