If you're an older gamer, you probably remember a time when games weren't all animation and special effects. There was once a time when games were simply pictures with associated narratives, and they thrived. King Of Dragon Pass is a game made in 1999, and reaches back to those roots.

You start out with a village of clanmates, who just left their homeland to escape a tyrant. Pretty typical storyline, if you don't count the effect your choices have during the game, such as if a child gets his parents murdered, and that child vows revenge, you can subsequently allow him to leave and take his revenge, he can then come back to you, 30+ years later, a god of a man, and request your help which are all told in illustrated bits randomly, with literally thousands which can happen.

The game pans out epically, I've been playing as a single clan for around 70 years and have seen a child born and taken by other clans, to become a prophet of events which help you. The game takes goddamn forever to win, since you must kill/ subdue all of the other clans. You can also explore the entire area of 'Dragon Pass', which is extremely dangerous, I can't list how many extremely strong magicians and leaders I've lost  and then found 10+ years later as skeletons and corpses.


Basically, if you like a sim/rpg/adventure game, this will tickle your fancy like it has mine.
