General Discussion / OCCUPY CLOCK CREW
October 09, 2011, 09:12:49 AM
Quote from: CadillacClock;1863920the message is lost under the ever swaying direction and mentality of their supporters. for every serious protester there's a teenager running around in a guy fawkes mask or worse an adult abe lincoln/george washington costume.

even their unofficial official website fails to grasp a single unified message. the entire protest has become a display of the peoples inability to define themselves under a single (compromised) message.

http://occupywallst.org/forum/proposed-list-of-demands-for-occupy-wall-st-moveme/

a bunch of poorly written demands

Here are my thoughts and responses to their demands.

1.  While I'm all for removing free trade systems like NAFTA, the problem is that we will risk trade wars as our trading partners increase tariffs on our goods.

2.  If we raise min. wage to $20, inflation will spike and you better be ready for the prices of everything else to go up proportionately.

3.  It already exists and it pays enough to live on.  The problem is they want to be rewarded for nothing by being paid enough for them to have all their desires met.  A big screen TV in every room, a new car in every driveway, etc.

4.  There is no free meal, somebody has to pay for it.   As long as everybody understands that their taxes will go up, sure go ahead and make it free.  Not that it matters to me, I'm a few years out of college, so it wouldn't affect me anyways.

5.  I would be ok with getting rid of fossil fuels, if an equally cost effective alternative existed; however, at this point, nothing exists, other than nuclear.  That demand is waiting on the science.

6.  Should have been done to begin with.  I like Ron Paul's idea to cut the wasteful military spending and put it into infrastructure like roads and bridges.

7.  Grew up using nuclear power and living near major wetlands.  We never had any problems.

8.  The civil rights act already does that (without it being an amendment to the Constitution).

9.  Today's geopolitical climate doesn't allow that.  Open borders (esp. with Mexico) are unsafe.  Instead, I would propose major increases in the number of and ease to aquire work and travel visas.

10.  Those standards are set that way because most countries *cough*Africa*cough* don't have the funding for anything beyond a paper ballot, which is slow and tedious to count.

11.  Easiest way to destroy the world economy in one swift blow.

12.  Enjoy not being able to get a loan without a major percentage of money as a down payment.

Edit:  Forgot one of them:
13.  Allowing union creation is the easiest way around to get a business to close.  Simply because it is easier to shut down and start a new company than comply with union thugs.

The majority of these people are folks who don't have an ounce of sense.  I'd be willing to bet many of these protesters haven't had a job in their life, outside of "going to class".  Maybe they should work on how to implement their plans rather than just making a bunch of demands.  At least with the Tea Party bunch (which might I add, are the original Tea Party in name only), they'll recommend ideas on how to implement their demands and do it without vandalizing property.

Oh, I thought you meant I had called you a faggot since that thread in the suggestion forum was made (since that is what you keep on ranting about).  Based on the context of the above shown image, I stand by my comment (since it was a response to a quote from you being a poopie-head).

Beyond that (and getting back to the real issue), I never thought I'd see the day that clocks would vote 0 on other clock flashes.

PS:  I saw the thing you said about the being a furry before you deleted it from your post (I would have responded earlier but I was too sleepy to bother), and I can assure you that I am no furry.  The signature picture is referring to the show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.   I can assure you, friendship is indeed magical.   :3

Back to my usual time killer of playing video games.  See you guys next time I feel like making a Clock Flash.

Quote from: NINTY;1823278Interestingly enough you hadn't made a clock flash in over a year until yesterday.

I also don't seem to recall you being online ever, I may be wrong but regardless I'm pretty sure we both know you prefer the LL. Regardless of what your excuse may be, you didn't decide to get involved with the CC (IE: Logging in, posting, making flash) until we jokingly decided to make a rule degrading the LL and the people who associate themselves with them. Obviously you got mad, deny it if you like but i would say it's pretty obvious when you're calling me a faggot on their website.

As you were trying to say with that rather overused picture, don't take the internet so seriously bro. It's ok if you get mad but don't come waltzing back trying to troll or whatever it is you think you're going to accomplish by randomly poking your head in here. The LL is awful, if you don't like our opinion then clearly you probably are not going to enjoy your time here, however brief it may be.

Now now, lies are not the way to go about things, I haven't called you a faggot on either site.  There's no need for you to make up things to prove a point.

Of course you didn't notice me online.  If I don't post, 99% of the time, people won't notice.
Be honest, how many times do you "really" check the list for:  "Total members that have visited the forum today"

Not that it matters, you have a good evening my good bean. :tophat:

Quote from: NINTY;1823272Right Redneck, since when do you post here and make clock flash?

We make a measly thread declaring your favorite spinoff to be shit and suddenly you decide to come running back. Gimme a break.

Not really, I routinely stop by here daily. I also stop by when I feel like posting links to Clock flashes. I just usually have nothing of worth to say since a lot of the threads turn into some sorta circle-jerk.

Quote from: NINTY;1823211zero for calling me a faggot/Only visiting this website because some of us no longer wish to acknowledge the ripoff group you've spent most of your time and effort on.

Go back to where you belong.

Don't fret, you may feel homesick the first month or so, but after that, you'll start meeting new folks and you'll find yourself enjoying your new freedom.  Plus, you can always visit your parents every now and then if the homesickness hits hard.

Quote from: Ankh;1759016But the guy he was running against wasn't the incumbent. This was a Democratic primary, and Jim DeMint, a Republican, is the incumbent.

Yeah, I watched the full clip now.  I lol'd.  Probably his name just sounded nicer to the voters.  It has happened before after all.  :fifen:

Quote from: Biblo;1755740Seriously the only way to act around these people is bored. They thrive on shock, disgust and controversy. Don't try and shock them. Just ignore them and appear tired of their ways. Act like you've seen it all before.

Basically the Barney Bunch of IRL.
