Reading and Writing / Catch-22
March 16, 2012, 06:22:19 AM
So I read this book a bit ago.

Holy crap I loved every bit of it. The unique narrative, the weird antics, the basic concept of the Catch-22 bureaucratic failsafe.

choppy grammar aside, this vid makes the most sense to me. The only thing wrong with it is that I'm pretty sure shepard is still on earth and not on the citadel.

that would actually make it a kinda good ending

Jesus christ I didn't even finish the first eight minutes. These gay losers speak only in their backward irish gingerspeak, I just felt uneasy watching this crap. Cutting my dick with a swithblade seems more appealing to me.

really? i enjoyed the hell out of that movie

Judgment at Nuremberg - 9.5/10
over three hours long masterpiece dealign with the nuremberg trials post-WWII. it's a fictional case of 4 judges who acted during the nazi regime. very strong performances in this outstanding court room drama

arrietty - 7/10
not going to go down in history as the strongest of Miyaki's movies, but this animated feature about a family of "borrowers", a race of something that could best be described as tiny people who call themselves borrowers because they survive by taking away things you'll never notice - sugar cubes, pieces of string and so on. stil a fun movie and as always beautifully animated

witness for the prosecution - 8/10
this movie actually ends with a disclaimer telling the viewer not to go out and tell people the ending. that's because this court room movie about a man on trial for murder is full of plot twists and surprises

wild strawberries (Smultronstället) - 7/10
classic ingmar bergman movie about an old professor who gave his life to science to revisit his life, including the many regrets it brought him. it was good but i expected a lot more

high noon - 9/10
gary cooper plays a marshall in anytown, america in the old west. a psychopath he once sentenced to jail has gotten released and is out for revenge, coming back to their little town on the noon train and the marshall feels he must face the man and his gang to finally end things. great film.

touch of evil - 10/10
touch of evil is a testament to the film noir genre. in this originally box office bust of  broads, liquor and corruption tale orson welles and charlton heston play almost opposite characters as the plot thickens and the movie reaches a sensational climax. orson welles directs some sensational scenes like the film opening with a tracking shot of over 3 minutes long and constantly keeps the viewer interested with his camera wizardry

well my personal favorites

-the descendants: drama/comedy starring george clooney as hawaii landlord whose wife gets into a coma following a boating accident and he has to deal with his two daughters all by himself.
- moneyball: fun movie. brad pitt tries to win the baseball world series with a small budget by employing some guy that made a program that analyzes all statistics. it's based on the real life story as brad pitt's character tries to beat budgets by cracking numbers
-warrior: one of two sons of a former boxer returns home from the war and wants to be trained by him for some big upcoming MMA tournament. pretty good fighting movie with a few original spins
-drive: ryan gosling plays the driver, stunt driver by day, getaway driver for hire by night.
very unique stylish movie
-the artist: special in the sense that it's a homage silent movie to the old days. pretty original and well executed. it's about a famous silent movies actor and an upcoming actress on the brink of the breakthrough of talkies
-midnight in paris: owen wilson is a hollywood writer who wants to create his first novel but is suffering from writer's block. him and his wife move to paris where owen wilson is all in love with the city
-rundskop: youve probably nevver heard of this one because it's belgian, but i saw it in theaters and it's amazing. matthias schoenaerts (lead actor) gained 27kg in muscles in a year to portray a beast of a man in the hormone maffia
