Alright, so I'm finally getting around to designing my site (yoink, http://www.mattchathamdesign.com ) and I've run into a snag, prooobably because I'm an idiot. Basically 1 and 1 was offering two domain names as part of the signup, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and do my girlfriend's site also. Problem is, they seem to share the same FTP domain. Because of this, I can't create an "index" landing page for both sites, without creating an extra folder for one of them (IE mattchathamdesign.com/landingpage/). Obviously I don't want to do this, because no one wants to type an essay to access either of our pages. Is there any way around this? I don't want to have to buy more server space juuust to get a landing page, and even if I did the FTP host seems linked to my girlfriend's address, so I'd probably have to get a new one.

To preface this story, I'll mention that over the Summer someone came into my house here at school and stole my laptop, and various music gear.

I was looking for my twelve-pack of diet Orange Crush soda tonight, and it seemed to be gone. After getting really pissed that my roommates had fucked with it, I asked them, and no one knew where it was, but one noted they'd seen our can depot-thing outside at the back of the house, for some reason. So I went back there, and sure enough our can-box was back there, with my Crush box, both empty. So here's the theory:

Someone came into our house through our open back door, while no one was home except for my fucking delinquent roommate who never leaves his room on the second floor, and stole our cans and diet soda. At the risk of sounding dramatic, it's the weirdest fucking thing that's ever happened to me. I struggle to understand it as an actual possibility, but it's the only one I can conceive of other than ghosts. I mean, it could have been much worse, but I'm almost insulted that someone would enter a stranger's house during the day with someone home to steal about $10 worth of soda. We have three Xbox 360's in the house, not to mention six computers.

Anyways, I'm thinking of setting up a security camera. Just to see if I can capture some weird shit.

Anyone know of a good crack for InDesign? I've been looking at torrents high and low and can't seem to find a good working one. PM me or something, 'cause I'm not paying $650. That's fuckin' absurd.

I need a new desktop, and I'm thinking of going for a Dell Inspiron 530, but I'm debating which processor to get. I could go with a Pentium dual-core, Core 2 Duo, or a Core 2 Quad. I figure I really don't need anything that intense as a quad, 'cause I mostly plan on editing music and doing photoshop/ Flash, but I think I may pop in a game occasionally. So how 'bout it. Dual-core good enough?

I really don't understand what mixing even is... As far as I can tell it's the arrangement and sound level/ dynamics of the individual instrument tracks, however mastering involves playing with boosting volume and fucking around with equalization, so why bother playing with the sound in mixing to begin with? Just to program the faders so when you master you boost the overall sound? What the fuck?

Why is sex represented by old black and white-filmed performances of some kind?

Between say the US and Canada, and just shot like three people across the border line. Who would arrest him? How would they, jurisdiction-wise? I had a dream about this and it makes perfect sense to me as the perfect criiime.

I'm making a music video, so I obviously need to stream the music to keep it in time with the video, but it sounds like shit and since this movie showcases the music just as much as the video, I'd like the sound quality to be a bit higher. Is there any way I can do such a thing?

ALL I'm trying to fucking do is play an ass-old Mac game (that rocks) on Adrenaline's computer. Is there some kind of emulator I can use? There's gotta' be some fucking way. The game is supposed to install on a Mac OS 8.5.

Alright, so there's a dude in my graphic design and illustration class named Fernandooo. Anyways, he's really good with Adobe Illustrator and comes up with all this cool shit. I first noticed the oddities when he was showing an assignment to my teacher. I noticed it was pixelated when he zoomed in, and since it's a vector program that's... odd, unless he was putting it online for some reason. Also, it was named Blablabla_by_Blablabla, the second being a person's online name that was not his. Also, it was saved in his Research folder on his flash drive.
Alright alright, flash forward, and skip a few weird things, I see him open up a thing from his Flash drive, and start to trace it in Illustrator. The next day, he turns in almost the same fucking image as the one he was tracing for the assignment. Not only that, he opens the original and claims he made that too. Well since then I've found the damned thing on somebody else's Deviantart, as well as two other Illustrations he stole from another artists. What should I do about this? I don't really want to talk to him about it, because there'd be no easy way to say that I've been covering your tracks and you're a fucking thief. But also if I tell my teachers he will be expelled from College, and it may ruin his whole life. What the fuck.
