I feel like patreon is often really cool. A lot of the people backing are very chill and just want to help give some financial peace of mind to someone they appreciate, they aren't really fiending for content.

The worst parts stem from the artist being uneasy or guilty about the ask, and feeling like they have to overproduce or overpromise. And I don't blame them, because that's exactly how every other financial relationship works, money is stressful and there's a prevailing attitude that every dollar should be hard-earned, and your service should compete with every other possible way those dollars could be spent.

Not that I am in a position to offer money to anybody, or guiltlessly accept it. I just appreciate that it can work out that way for some folks.
