I propose we make a film trilogy; the first part could be called "The brotherhood of the bracelet", the second "A Couple of Towers" and the final installment "HEY! THE KING'S BACK!"

Quote from: PhantomCatClock on October 02, 2024, 09:03:51 AMthe dwarf story has not only not changed since the intro monologue from vanilla when you make a dwarf character, it's become the main story of wow

haven't played the new expac though, and did not pay attention since Battle for Azeroth, sorry

i beg your pardon sir but the dwarf story changed in cataclysm, with a new shittier new character monologue. good on you quitting black tar heroine, i just assumed you were still on the stuff.

and since i mentioned Catalysm, did Blizzard completely misunderstand that Cataclysm was the point where classic servers took off in such abundance? Is there one person alive who was asking for "Cataclysm Classic"? Oh yes please, let us relive the days when our goodwill towards your company entered the Intensive Care Unit.

Hey Phantomcat, I was reading the Warcraft wiki yesterday on account of the new expansion being out and come to discover that Magni Bronzebeard is alive again like as actual flesh and bone. Made some sort of reconciliation with his daughter as well. So answer me this; how is the council of three hammers still in place when the actual king is alive? The council is a regency for the heir apparent but there's no reason for Dagran II to take the throne when his Grandfather could sit, barring Magni's abdication?

Honestly the whole situation should reignite a Dwarven civil war at worst and at best see Magni in the uncomfortable position of ruling over the dark irons whose leader he had killed.

Will Blizzard make anything interesting with the massive implications of this development or didn't kurdran die in day of the dragon?

Also Dagran II's teenage model looks fucking ridiculous what a dork

I got out of the shower this morning and as I was combing my hair I hear this unusual cracking sound followed by what I would describe as a flutter. Immediately I panic, thinking for some ungodly reason one of the water lines running under the tub has cracked and is spraying, so I go over to the shower and press my ear to the wall, but this only muffles the sound. I step back and ascertain that whatever it is must be coming from outside so I step up into the tub to peek out the window, and see that a partridge has flown headlong into the fencing I put up for the dog in the backyard, snapped it's neck, and is now frantically flapping its wings on the ground.

Part of me thinks this is a poor omen, but a larger part of me wishes I hadn't needed to leave this morning because I definitely could've cleaned and cooked that bastard instead of throwing him into the woods for the coyotes.

Oh and I found out what happened to my pogey. The people funding my school incorrectly listed my start date as the week of the 1st, and I reported truthfully having started school on the 9th. That contradiction lead to my report being rejected. Two hours on the phone and the issue seems resolved but it'll probably be next week before I get any money.

I have to get through one test that involves long form multiplication and division at which point the use of calculators is permitted. I understand the formulas, I simply cannot keep numbers straight in my head. I leave math class with a splitting headache every time.

If I hadn't been so 'fuck the system' in my teen years and overcame my fear of incurring debt I likely could have leapfrogged off my excellent English and History grades into some sort of academic career in literature- but I hate school, and I hate being around people, so the concept of teaching has never remotely appealed to me.

But whatever. The world needs ditch diggers, too.

Im in school now. It's a massive headache. We're at the new campus which has not been finished, to the point where two entire buildings are not accessible. One of those buildings contains all of the trade shops, which means it is likely to be another month before I do any amount of woodworking in this carpentry course. Math study has reminded me why Long Division almost held me back every year of school after grade 8, and this time around I don't have the cute blonde to sit next to who will guide me through it.

Also, I woke up this morning to a notification email saying my EI report for the last two weeks was rejected. So I guess I'm calling Service Canada for my lunch hour and praying to god I dont sit on hold for the entire thing.

One week in and I'm already regretting leaving my shitty job for this.

Quote from: Slurpee on July 02, 2024, 02:00:44 PMbritish people measure sugar for tea in "sugars"
what does that mean?

"how many sugars do you take"

idk man I do about a teaspoon and a half for the big ass 32 floz cup I drink out of because I'm a monster
so I guess that's... 32/8=4, so that's 4 times the size of a normal teacup, 3/2 spoons รท 4 = 3/2*1/4= 3/8 of a teaspoon... but the teaspoon I use is an actual like silverware teaspoon that you would use, in america, which is actually about 3 of the measurement teaspoons, so 9/8 tsp... and according to google 1 tsp is about 4.18 grams of granulated sugar, so 4.18*1.125= 4.7025, so about 4.7 grams

???

does that help

is it a sugar cube? it's probably a sugar cube, I don't know why I went through all this. so one I guess, one is my answer

no we don't use sugar cubes that's fucking nuts, if i go to a house and its all fuckin sugar cubes i'm gonna be like 'um hello? do i look like a horse? do i look like i want to be taken for a ride?'

its a scoop using a teaspoon, but we all live in constant fear that the person scooping for us either underscoops or overscoops the sugar. 'keep calm and carry on' is specifically about the fear that someone is miscalculating the appropriate teaspoon scoopage.

It's an anachronism from wartime rationing

It's the math I'm concerned with. I only passed grade 12 math with a 56 and that was eleven years ago, I haven't exactly kept up with my times tables.

Orientation day was dumb. I got a slice of cold pizza. The kids are so young, I felt so very old and crotchety. Can't wait for it to be over with so I can go back to the workforce and fraternize with sad alcoholics rather than these fresh faced happy alcoholics.
