Its been a very long time since I've posted a thread, but the reason I'm back is to ask what you guys think about Adobe's decision to kill flash for mobile devices. A lot of articles that I've been reading say this spells the eventual doom of flash for PCs as well. What are your thoughts Clock Crew?

GoAnimate is the future of the clock crew.

We need a GoAnimate Day.

Seeing how light software has been going to fairly well rendered 3D models that can run on UnityEngine we will see a lot more applications of easy access 3D animations like Flash.

Flash is still a very versatile tool, though, especially on 2D animation studios.

Yeeeah, it's not a great sign. But keep in mind Adobe has said they're switching strategies in order to find ways to simply convert Flash games/movies into mobile-phone ready apps. So at least they're still trying to integrate it, just changing their strategy a bit.

EDIT: Oh yeah, THANKS STEVE JOBS.

The program isn't gonna go away for a long time but honestly having your own file format is pretty stupid nowadays, especially when streaming live video is so easy. I don't know about games and stuff like that. Maybe Adobe will make it so you can export in an interactive format that's already out there.

I'm pretty sure adobe has already started developing a very limited html5 animation tool. I suppose it's only a matter of time before they integrate the flash tool with html5/webgl export. Many video sites (vimeo and youtube, primarily) currently have html5 playback features instead of flash because they know just how bad flash can be at video conversion.

Adobe has such a huge hold on the market that they're definitely not going to give it up just by deprecating the .swf. I imagine the animation tool will stick around for a long time, and so will the .swf, but there's probably going to be a huge media shift in the near future.

I was going to post a large story here but I'm currently on my phone so I I'll use this post to remember me when I am on my pc again.

I'm hoping they'll start having flash software render out HTML5 .
As far as Adobe goes, they started fucking up flash as soon as they got their hands on it. I can't stand using a version beyond CS3.

Well, it seems like that Adobe is giving basic functionality from their entire suite to each of their programs.

Sure, Photoshop can draw vectors and do basic typesetting, but it isn't the best program.

I heard a graphic design teacher predicting that InDesign might evolve into the do-all program for Adobe, but i think Photoshop is more likely to become that.
