I cant hotlink these images for some reason.

Now this is true Art. Just outstanding in every way; creativity, discipline, dedication, fore-planning and planning, deliberation. So much work went into each of these, undoubtedly. It is hard not to see the beauty in each of these pieces simply for the minute detail that was placed and planned into each page.

I have nothing to say on these that hasn't already been said here; but holy fucking tits. The sheer amount of time, effort, and dedication that would have went into these is absolutely staggering.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Quote from: wavy gravy;1900918Personally I find it idiotic and a waste of a perfectly good book that is worth much more than the art that is presented.

Judging by how old they look, they are probably out of date. Especially because they look like medical texts and refrence texts.

oh but it's okay because it's ~so creative and unique special snowflake~

"We really don't use reference books like this anymore. And, people get offended by the fact that i'm using books and altering them, but in a way i'm pointing out what's going on digitally a lot right now, we're constantly losing information, and could have a paperback book that could last 200 years but I have some files from 10 years ago that I can't open on my computer anymore. So things are fleeting, and in a way i'm celebrating this material and kind of exploiting it, but working with that physical, tangible quality of information that is constantly becoming less and less part of reference, it loses it's function." I do not share your view that he simply defaces books, as he uses a very creative, labour-intensive process in which new meanings are created through both the conceptual implications of the material and proces, as well as the resulting aesthetic qualities of the new object.

By whimsical, do you mean the indeterminacy he achieves through his process, or are you rather accusing the artist of being improperly motivated?
