I haven't bought a new computer since 2006 :-o What laptop should I buy guyz? I know you nerds have teh answers.

Price range is about Ã,£300-500

Primarily I want to use it to record music and to a lesser extent play some games.

I just went on Newegg, chose power search, and moved the sliders so that my new computer would have specs at least as good as a high-end Apple laptop and cost less than $whatever. I ended up choosing a refurbished Asus that I'm pretty happy with.

This is among the best performance for the money you'll get at the moment. Acer makes quality laptops. I've always found them to be very reliable. This will handle mid range gaming rather well as well as anything else you'd use a laptop for.

I doubt 300 - 500 gives you a powerful gaming laptop, but asus/acer brands are pretty good

some good suggestions are:

if you want a:

cheap laptop: lenovo does some good ones, also there are a few phillips that come cheap, but not great, and dell is always a good bet.

moderate price laptop: asus, acer, higher tier phillips laptops, and sony ones.

higher price laptops: LG laptops are always good, and great quallity, and vaio by sony.

Any "not a good gaming laptop" you get is going to be better than your 2006 one, just spend like an hour comparing them and nab one
