OK guys this is crazy.

These new speakers i set up for my dads office are picking up radio waves. They're playing out of the goddamn things even though they're hooked up to the computer and the speakers have no radio functionality at all (yes I'm sure). Turning up the volume dial seems to have no effect on how loud the radio is, but oddly enough it only gets louder if, get this, my hand gets close to it. Seriously, what the hell? Am I a radio antenna? Somebody explain this crazy shit to me.

Also note that the office is a story underground and the rooms I'm in seems to have cement walls.

To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

Im not sure about the radio waves but regarding the idea that you are some how an antenna, ive had the same experience myself with most of the regular am/fm radios in my house. The signal of these radios seem to get much stronger whenever I touch or get near them.. I dont understand why exactly but id imagine its pretty normal seeing as how you are experiencing the same thing..

You're probably right about the radiowaves, I have the same problem sometimes with my earphones/plugs/buds whatever you call these things: .

I'm not sure you understand. I can hear them talking about the news right now. They're talking about how bad the economy is going. It's hard to keep up though because I have to put my hand up by the speaker to hear anything.

Pff, lucky you, mine only receive german shit music and local "boeren muziek"(farmers music).

I sometimes have this with the amp of my guitar as well.

I guess some piece of metal near the speaker is shaped just right to pick up that signal.
And the hand thing, its not weird at all. You are getting an AM signal BTW. When I put my hand near my clock radio it sometimes gets louder on certain frequencies.
lemayo lol :soups:

My PS2 controller acts berserk whenever a cellphone or any other wireless-using device is near.

My dad just got back and reminded me we're like a block away from the local radio stations radio tower.

I used to have the same issue with a cheap set of speakers when I lived close to a radio tower. It played 80s music, all day, all night... even if it were turned off and unplugged from the PC... As long as it had power.

Anyway, the fix was to throw on some ferrite cores. Get some, they are very handy.
