Ryoji Ikieda - data.matrix

Up until this year I hadnt heard ANY japanese music that wasnt just generic besides the pillows. But now I'm learning a about a decent number of good artists and bands from this country. Its not all cutesy jpop and dir en grey clones. This song was made entirely through computer glitches and errors. Its very discrete, but not quite ambient music. It sounds like what electronic dance music would be stripped down to its bones.

Tycho - Hours (Teen Daze Remix)

super trancy. I'm pretty sure you could do absolutely anything with this song in the background and it would make it more awesome. I vote 5.

The Power of Love - Huey Lewis & the News

This is one of my favorite songs and it is absolutely rad. No matter the mood I'm in, I can put this on and instantly feel better.

Barry White- Love's Theme

Holy shit. Will ever be another black man that produces music as pimping as his?

Job for a Cowboy - Knee deep

Great songwriting as far as lyrics and musical timing at its best

Periphery - Icarus lives

I dig the tight processed sound, really good shit.

Vocals get a little annoying to my tastes, but the quality of the recording just gives it complete justice.

Mount Eerie - Stone's Ode

i'm a big fan of "The Microphones" who went on to become this band. basically i approve of anything Phil Elverum does musically. i'm seeing them play on thursday night, i hope they play this song, hopefully they do the xylophone version they've done before, if not i won't mind because i've been listening to them far too long to be disappointed by any live experience they can offer

Every guy wants to be his  friend and every girl wants to date him. Understandably Slurpee is not a  very happy person.

Portishead - Machine Gun

Fantastic tune from 2008. Portishead's 3rd album came somewhat out of nowhere after a decade of silence and yet they sound like they never missed a beat. Machine Gun is one of my favorites off of the album because of how stark and simplistic it is, yet it sounds positively lush to my ears. The name, Machine Gun, in music production terms, usually refers to the effect that playing a MIDI or sampled snare drum in rapid succession has, making it sound machine-like. It gives the impression that the band got an idea to make a song based around this phenomenon and just ran with it. Whenever I go a while without listening to it, I seem to forget the synth part at the end is there until it comes in and blows my balls off.

Oh and Powerglove, Phil Elvrum is one cool customer.

Kraftwerk - Tour de France

I have been a big fan of electronic music for over 10 years, and its funny to think I got introduced to Kraftwerk, the very pioneers of the genre, last year or so. What I like most about them is that they proudly use the most synthetic sounds as possible, while they don't sound too sophisticated like most artists in the scene; that however let's them get a more peaceful tone rather than a constant UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ all the time.

i also like how sometimes they just combine different sounds to make music, and the members Kraftwerk are also a big fan of cycling, which they made the soundtrack for the Tour de France on 2003.

This is not the best song to introduce the band with imo, but I simply love this version.

i know this guy who books shows at a bowling alley back in my hometown, he used to get phil shows around western mass before he really had a following and now mount eerie plays there pretty much every time they come through

Kraftwerk - KlingKlang

This is much more like it. One of their only tracks that is simply pure music. A blend of experimental and ambiental styles, really great stuff.

Kodiakclock

I dont like the clock crews collective taste in music right now.

SBTRKT - Laidback songs which combine eletronic music and vocals in a fun way. there's something to this guys voice that i can't really put my finger on. All in all fun multilayered music that nice to just listen to. I dunno what i just said i don't know how music works, this stuff if just nice to hear i guess.

So I usually hate dubstep, but this song (played WITH the video) just has this crazy effect. I couldn't think of a video more fitting for this mindfucking song.
