So our last set of rules was one incredibly vague line, and I think it led to some serious problems with moderation and confusion about what is acceptable and what is not within this subforum. That said, I'd rather not see anyone, myself included, imposing their ideas about logic on pain of banishment from the forum, and I don't think many other people want that either. So lets go ahead and talk about what kind of rules or guidelines we want to see in this subforum, and then we can formulate and vote on something definite.

I believe there's a thread about this in general, but Piney used his ability to ensure that the supermoderators don't abuse their powers by giving the position to me.

Those are awesomely demonstrative but if actually followed would lead to an incredibly confusing subforum that should probably exist but would make it very difficult to discuss anything.

To get the ball rolling, I was thinking of some things along the lines of "don't post one-liners, put some thought into it" and "if you must insult someone, please be sure you're also saying something substantial". I don't think we ought to police logic, but that we should try to foster an environment of open and detailed discussion.

Maybe it would be good to have a sticky with some basic guidelines for argument, but I don't think something like that ought to be enforced or used to derail conversation.
