I'd say Chi-town because I love the city, but if you want to go someplace really nice I'd say Hawaii. One person could do Hawaii with <35000.

Just a recommendation, if you want to stay on the fun parts,stay in Oahu or Maui. Personally I've never been to Maui, but I've heard it's nice. If you're going to Oahu, stay in Waikiki, that's the best place. The north side of the island is windy, so if you like surfing I guess that would be the better place, but I liked Waikiki much better. Sand, surf, and nearly perpetually good weather.

Why I say not to go to the island of Hawaii is because, unless you want to see the volcanoes, it's just a giant rock with a little bit of forest in it. Also, watch for cracks in the rocks if you go to Volcano National Park. I still have a two-inch scar on my leg from that place because I wasn't looking.
