My camera has recorded in MPEG 2 for it's entire lifespan. It's a Sony Handicam DCR-SR100. It uses a hard drive

Recently, whenever i try to put my files into nearly any video editing software, they all say it's unrecognized and refuse to play it. This is very bad, since i have a few projects in school that need to be done.

Is there any quick fix to this? any more information you need to know? I have already tried getting codecs for mpeg 2 but no matter what nothing seems to be working.

I am working with adobe premiere pro 2.0 (which i 'bought') because the version of adobe premiere pro cs3 that i 'bought' wouldn't function at all.

Please help me! ahhh!

Ugh, trying to edit video is such a bitch.  Your data is right there, but it just keeps messing things up for no reason.

Will the videos at least play?  If so, you could possibly use CamStudio to record it from your screen.

Doing "open network stream" or "open capture device" with VLC media player sometimes lets you make a new file from the old one, but sometimes it just makes garbage.
