“Opinion columnists are free to choose whatever facts bolster their arguments. But they aren't free to distort them,” opened the opinion column.

Also, if you think global warming is a hoax I have some 112º summer days that would like to have a word with you.

I like how the scientific consensus on Global Warming in the last 10 years has shifted from ozone depletion to the greenhouse effect. No matter what we do, there is no way to sustain our lifestyles environmentally speaking. We will run out of resources eventually and then there will be nothing but landfills for our barbaric descendants to live off in order to survive.

Weather does not have anything to do with climate. It was fucking snowing in Las Vegas, too. We had a large period of nice weather and people were going "IT CAN'T BE THIS WARM DURING WINTER UNLESS IT'S GLOBAL WARMING", totally disregarding that it's pretty much guaranteed most winters around here will be fairly decent in temperature, but then the snow kicks in for real and people shut up. It's the same with memory over all, going on about how much warmer winters are, while I'm just sitting there with "..Are you fucking kidding me, it was freezing last year, and the year before that, and the one before the one before that. Selective memory, much?".

Climate is measured by change within 30 year periods and then the data is compiled for the bigger picture. Individual years or moments during one mean absolutely nothing.

Global Warming is affecting the the western part of the U.S by melting the snow and ice earlier so that the reservoirs overflow and that water isn't stored. The result is that many reservoirs in the west are on the verge of going dry. Look and Lake Mead.

What does that have to do with what I said? Also, congratulations America for being I'm a edgy teen enough to build massive cities in the desert in the first place.

But it's I'm a edgy teen to blame a change over a couple of years on 'Global Warming' and is "alarmist" to say the least, given the minimal change in temperature projected across a hundred years. Just accept that droughts exist, not everything needs to be part of an agenda, although it is something to prepare for.

From the report they based it on:

QuoteCurrently the system is only at half capacity because of a recent string of dry years, and the team estimates that the system has already entered an era of deficit.

“When expected changes due to global warming are included as well,---"

Expected changes. Not things that caused it.

roman, your idiocy never ceases to amaze me.

I mean seriously

first it's the christianity

then it's the refutation of scientific knowledge

then it's the radical conservatism

now it seems to be a combination of no. 2 and no. 3

the only way you could look more insane is if you say that god wouldn't let this happen

Global pollution, whether related to Global Warming or not, is still a factor in the world.

Not really responding to it, as far as I can tell, since it's not directed at "Global warming randomly made our water go up in smoke this year", but noted. Was saying it's annoying to hear people blame everything under the sun regarding weather on Global Warming.

I'd imagine no one wants to live in early-industrialized London with pollution so heavy people barely breathed outside and people living half as long as people on the countryside due to poor standards and such. They didn't then so they got around to fixing that. No one likes pollution.

Even if man-caused Global Warming would be completely debunked, I'd still support cleaning up industry and so forth, simply because it's shitty (like how it still is with a lot of Chinese industry, polluting watersources and so forth so that it isn't feasible for the people living around it to drink untill it's purified in facilities...which it isn't, because they don't have them).

QuoteI suppose the same rule of thumb could apply to Africans. However, the problem hadn't occurred until Countries began polluting the Earth. At least, effecting it on a global scale. A thousand years ago the land would have been considered an ideal place to live.

But there is a big difference between five thousand people living somewhere and five million when it comes to water consumption in either case (just sayin', not intended as a "point"), especially prior to current use. We in the current west uses loads more water than people in the undeveloped world with closer conditions to then.

The difference to the Africans would be that Americans settled the area instead of being the craddle of humanity, and "Africa" is not mostly desert and if the migrating africans weren't on the move when they could we certainly wouldn't be here. :P

Quotee: Admittedly, with all the bashing: Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" took scientific Environmentalism and allowed it to step back into political circles in America, without blushing. Although Environmental sciences are misconstrued more than ever: their input is becoming more welcomed. I can't complain with that.

I can, because Science is supposed to be based on REALITY, not "if you do not agree with me you're an idiot" + ad hominems where ever we find an opportunity. From what I've seen Al Gore prefers making propaganda (which is why I didn't watch the movie. Not because I oppose environmental reform, but because I don't like getting false information. Reading science is better), not displaying science, and that is counterproductive. Sure it may make some "I don't care either way/Thinking I'm saving the world makes me feel good"-people start following you like sheep, but it'll make resistance tougher amongst people with opinions as they see it as nonsense you can find evidence against. Thinking long term (being truthful) is always better, no? _poogle_
