spitting cucumbers etc

A couple of days ago I was surrounded by skyscrapers but now i'm enjoying nature in the peace of my parents' house in the countryside...

A couple of pictures I took this morning:

These "spitting cucumbers" are great fun. The ripe seed pods eject violently, like bottle rockets, when lightly disturbed.
