Hey Mac users- what do you know about WINE?

I was thinking about downloading wine onto my computer, because the idea of playing a few windows games seemed cool to me. However before I installed it, I wanted to get you guys' opinions. Are there any bugs/drawbacks/annoying shit if I install it? What is the best way to install it (the FAQ about it seemed kind of confusing)? Or is it just a piece of shit and I shouldn't bother with it at all?

Thanks.

[tl/dr version]
ive used wine before on ubuntu and for what it is it generally does a pretty good job of running windows software on linux
i dont have a mac so i might be using a newer version than what is available for os x users
some games work perfectly out of the box but there are others that either require workarounds to work or flat out will not work at all with wine
im not much of a gamer but ive played several older windows games for nostalgia purposes on wine and they generally run very well
for wine i have used macromedia flash 8 and that runs near-flawlessly and ive heard adobe cs4 with the very latest build of wine with a bit of tinkering

the best way to install imho would be to look for a binary for your operating system
linux distributions generally have wine available as binaries within the repositories but i dont use os x thus you are on your own for binaries

oh, and other than disk space used, wine doesn't really have any drawbacks

[condensed version]
if you want to play newer games, wine is just crap and thus useless, but if you play older games (or even games that have had good reviews on wineHQ), then wine will do you just fine.
