We've been talking about tits and other lady parts quite a lot.

Bots love that shit.

I suppose the world is done with video games.

man, is this a joke?

TequilaClock

itt cranberry got hired by Blizzard and now knows everything about videogames

Munglai

Don't get me wrong I'm sure Cran knows about making games and stuff but you've got to expect your projects to be judged unfairly, especially if they sound like something that people already have an opinion on.

BilliardBall10

Cran I advise you to take BB10's offer, your game will be saved with his help.

Ha of course its a joke. It was more of a spin to point out the fact that pretty much every game ever made is a clone of something. Its been awhile since anything "new" has hit the gaming industry.

Some will argue that Minecraft is new, however the game Roblox and Blox has been around before that, mind you Second Life is a suitable, albiet larger scale version of Minecraft. You have some people saying that God of War was a new thing, but then again its just a hack and slash done to the mythical sense. Its very very hard to create anything that is not a clone of something, or somewhere. You can create new content all day change some rules, change out the artwork and you have a reskinned game... then of course everyone else will just say its just a clone.

Rift vs WoW vs Warhammer vs *Insert MMO here*
Mario vs Sonic vs Boogerman vs Earth Worm Jim..

same game, new skin, different style. Find me a unique concept and I will sure to point out a clone of some sort.

Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy.

While Katamari, which mind you was release 8 years ago originally was the first of its kind, hence the wording I said new, recently, 8 years is a large span... that does not stop the game Tasty Planet from copying the style. Which claims itself as a Katamari style game for the purpose of "cloning, reskinning, restyling" the same genre of grow a giant ball from random shit.

Noby Noby boy I will give you, though its strange and really just a bizarre creation from Takaashita or whatever the game company is. Most of the stuff they create cannot be taken seriously as a game more of a mini-game puzzle style of boredom with no shear value in the art industry. Just saying.

Quote from: CranberryClock;1874125Right now working with some of the Blizzard members I have an in with self publishers as well as some of the Dev Team has access to alot of people that are willing to not put there name in it for a trade deal ....

Cran, this totally outed you (for me at least) as not really knowing what goes on in video game publishing. It's okay, not many people do know, even on the development side from within the industry. I'm sure you'll pick up more as you work at Blizzard and move up the ranks, but this post wasn't going to fool anyone who's published a game before.

Sage, you are 100% correct sir. I honestly have 0 idea how the whole publishing aspect works mainly because thats a whole 'nother side of the cake which I don't even want to get into yet. I know honestly from what I have seen, but I almost garuntee that its way way different. I guess you could compare it to someone just handing you a bunch of ingredients to some food and showing you a picture and say make this. Thats about what I know, giving my buisness guys what I have they work deals and do the back shop talk and then we wind up having a game in our hands... sorta.

I won't lie, I have the smallest amount of knowledge when it comes to publishing and self publishing, alot of what I know which is still really small for that aspect, but its been word of mouth. The people telling these things I don't know if they have a full publish etc. I know this much, the people I am going to be working with has some ties in the gaming industry, what they are, not sure.. but I know they have the foot in the door or can help with networking if the time comes. Sadly right now as I am still deployed, I am only talking with them via email/chain chat/irc. It can get hectic as people talk over eachother email changes hands left and right, and things well get taken from text out of context or read a set way based on the perservation of the person.

I should have more answers to all that, hopefully, when I actually start full time.

To -Cast and Sage(cableshaft) btw, I have an interesting side project and will be sending you a PM about this. I think you would be more than happy to jump on board. Are you good with C#?
