Is there anyone here who uses it? I made a search on the forum and there's not even one result.

I haven't used Flash in quite a while and I need it, however I'm only used to Macromedia MX 2004 and I don't think it works with Windows 7, (or does it?)
The thing is I don't even recognize the program... The interface seems brutally defaced.

I'm mostly using After Effects for animations but it seems ineffective and way too slow for long animations.

What version of Flash are most of you people using for your animations, and what do you think about the new versions?

Indeed, jumping from an older version to the latest is going to create quite the comfort level shock. I couldn't even figure out where the action panel was at first.

I can assume you are just doing traditional animations and not scripting if you are publishing the final product in AE. I would stick with Flash 8. CS4 if you want to use the bone tool.

Bone tool. Heh.

Klop

Is this bone tool any good? Because I can't seem to be able to use it on Graphics/Movie Clips, just simple shapes.
Does Flash have anything like puppet warp?

It could be so amazing if Flash had animating tools like in AE and I wouldn't have to render every moment...
How come it has been 6 versions of Flash since it's by Adobe and the animating tools still suck...

In the Newgrounds HQ we all have the versions of flash we prefer.
Stamper uses Flash MX 2004, he only uses it for animations, then he opens it in CS5.5 and gives it a high flash player and
codes a preloader.

I use CS6 though.

I haven't gotten to using CS6 yet, but I can only assume that Adobe hasn't changed TOO much since the last .5 iteration.

See that "Essentials" thing up on the top right? Click it, and select "Classic"

That should make it a LITTLE easier. The newer flashes seem to not add much to the folks who use flash like us, but that bone tool and a few other tidbits seem useful for things. I'd say tinker with them a little.

Does Flash have anything like puppet warp?.

Bone tool is the closest thing Flash has to puppet warp. Instead of hinge and control points you literally draw bones that can pivot at the joints.

Won't work with movie clips because it makes use of shape tweening... why not just break apart the symbol?

Welcome to the clockcrew and adobe relationship.

One one side a group of internet hipsters who think its cool to only use flash mx and are afraid of actionscript 3.
On the other side a large company that pushes out expensive new software suites which mostly hold only very small updateswhen it comes to flash.

In all seriousness, if you are just animating i won't really matter that much. When it comes to coding or other more advanced features i suggest you upgrade.
