To be fair, you don't have anything. Clocks are just machines that tick.

It's a wonderful feeling getting through a really hard level by the skin of your teeth and your strongest unit getting skullfucked by an unpromoted unit who just happened to get a critical right at the end.
Yeah that's why I don't like the concept with TBS's. I tend to think more like a general instead of a commander when I play them, in that I know that sacrifices are unfortunate but necessary for the greater good of the fight. Games like Fire Emblem turn that on its head and make you want to preserve every character and it just doesn't allow for good offensive strategy. That's why my main TBS is the Advance Wars series.

Also, playing FFTA, I once accidentally made the MC killed something with a lawbreaker and that's an automatic game over. That is bullshit, honestly.

I'm sure those of you who play Pokémon games heard of the infamous Nuzlocke challenge. You are only allowed to catch the first pokémon you encounter in each new area of the game, and if one of your pokémon faints, you must release it, meaning it's dead. Makes the game more intense because not only you have to keep your team alive, it's usually going to be a team of regular pokémons people just ignore in favour of the most powerful ones, so you have to learn to work with them as well.

It's not a good idea for Red or Blue since those games are totally broken (special stat being for both attack and defense was I'm a edgy teen) but it works really well for 1 player in newer games.

You'll never get a competitive team that way though that's for sure.

Quote from: Slurpee;1926554you know what's cool though is when people take shitty games and play them 1 life and make them into AMAZING games

Yeah see this is what I'm talking about. This is pretty awesome.

See what pokemon really needs is to have rare candies and the leave-it-and-come-back trainer disabled and then to not have the elite 4 in the game so the most content you can level through is victory road. Also it should remove all the legendaries.

I think it's a double-edged sword. As said before, the game has to be designed VERY well to pull it off without massive rage. I think a happy medium, perhaps, would be to have side characters with perma-death, ala Fire Emblem. It gives you that urgency without so much rage.
