I use a reference-dolls or myself in a mirror, and when I fail I just draw over it until it looks smudgy enough that the human eye fools you into thinking it looks good :P But I've practiced a lot on my shading, I am glad it's noticed

The clockface itself is kind of subpar but I was really tired at the moment, no possibility to save it, and having had a lot of trouble with the hand in the middle (black on black background was a very stupid mistake) I did not feel like wasting another timesink in experimenting with a melting+glowing+human-Clockface

Its fine, You know your growing when you can analyze flaws or improvements on your art. Keep at it man.

I feel I kind of failed the "cyan" bright feeling I wanted on the eyes... Mind you the camera makes it look much greener than it is, it's still not very "cyan" and whenever I try mixing blue/white/green I end up with a moss/dull colour!
