Should I be embarrassed that Harry Potter is the only book on this list that I have read?

I don't think so, at least not in the way you mean. A bunch of books on there seem to be popular in the United Kingdom only. On top of that some of it comes across as real stack-at-a-train-station's-bookstore fluff. I've only read Mathilda, Life of Pi and Fear & Loathing myself.

Not really, I've only read a few and even Harry Potter is a stretch for me since I never liked it much. I just find it funny that authors of great and well known novels cross massive parts out post-publishing and scrawl "THIS IS SHIT OH MY GOD" all over it.
