honestly I can't think of any good reason not to have redundancy in navigation
people should be able to get to what they're going to, and a consistent navigation thinger makes it easy
if can link you to the page you're already on, oh well? who cares? don't click that button then?

they used to be all over the place in the oughts and now websites are, like, phasing them out? and it's stupid. i often end up using google to find the pages I want on websites i frequent.
