I was thinking about making a flash, but I'm at a loss for how uploading/management works for .swf uploads on Newgrounds.  I ask, because all the new flash movies I've played no longer use loading screens or anything.  Do you even need a preloader these days?

These days most people just publish as .mp4 since you can't view flash on a lot of devices and it's being phased out in most web browsers. You can still upload .swf if you want. There's a program that newgrounds released called "swivel" that converts .swf files into video files. That's probably why you aren't seeing loading screens or anything, nobody is actually using .swf any more.

To actually upload stuff, you go to newgrounds, and click the downward arrow button on the top right and select that you want to upload an animation. Once you edit the form at all it creates a "project" on your account that you can edit at any time.

EDIT: If you didn't know, .swf is basically a dead format. Adobe discontinued it and it's actively being removed from programs because it has a lot of security problems and the fact that it isn't an open source format.

Honestly I dont think you need a preloader. But I do think there should be at least new intros for each clock day and flash flood etc.



I actually also hope that we can get all the old clock movies running in HTML so I can waych on mobile
